Ewert's book is an excellent survey of the elements of Biblical interpretation. He deals with all the basic ideas like figures of speech, genre, theology, progressive revelation, language and culture. The careful reader will learn what she needs to know to keep from violating one part of the Scripture in her reading of another. Also, many frustrating passages can be made clear.
