Summary: In this book we learn how the bald eagle came to be on our money. It covers the creation of the United States and the need for a national symbol. This book talks about how and why the bald eagle came to be the symbol for so many things in our country.

Isabella: 5 of 1000: It was a good book. The eagle is our national bird because it is strong and can dive to get fish. I liked that Ben Franklin thought the turkey would be a better symbol better even though they were silly.

Mama was surprised that Benjamin Franklin didn't want the bald eagle to be the nation bird because it steals fish from other birds and the eagle is a lousy and lazy bird.
