I love this book!
Not only is the author a Seattle local, I want to make almost every single project she has in her book and I absolutely LOVE her fabric choices.
I love her section on choosing fabric and her hints where to go to get the best quality cotton you can buy.
I made one of her bags (The Readling List Tote) and was intimidated but her instructions were clear and simple to follow and her diagrams really helped a beginner like me complete the bag - proper...more

I like this book.
I first heard about from Angela, a fellow BAMQGer who made the Bird-Watcher Messenger Bag and brought it to a Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild Meeting for show and tell. My thought was that some of the projects might make good gifts. I tried to borrow the book from the Library, but they didn't have it. I finally ended up buying The New Handmade with a gift card. I am glad I did, because I really like the writing style and the projects are interesting and useful as well. ...more

I made the pot holders. Overall, clear instructions and helpful illustrations. The binding measurement for my project was 1/2" off, which meant I had to cut a new piece and do a lot of unpicking. But other than that I was pleased with it.
There are a few items that I may make from this book - glad I checked it out at the library and didn't spend money on it
There are some terrific things to make in this book....bags, placemates, bags, fun things!
Birthday present from my mom! ;) I haven't made anything in this but I can't wait to make the placemats in here!
