"Well, if you're going to be picky about it . . ."
"Picky? Sweetie pie, you are the worst bounty hunter in the history of the world."
"That does it. I have better things to do than to stand here and take your insults."
I pushed him out of my foyer, into the hall, slammed the door closed, and threw the bolt. I pressed my nose to the door and looked through the peephole.
Morelli grinned at me.
"This is war," I yelled through the door

I love this book!

One for the Money, as great as this series is, really didn’t show you the potential of laughter to come.

Two for the Dough changes everything! The relationship between Stephanie and Morelli will leave you smiling. All of the wonderful little things in a relationship that bugs you, you’ll find in theirs. The awkward moments to the pitter patter wonder moments.

Grandma Mazur really steps on stage with her need to pay her respects to the dead More...

I enjoyed One for the Money. The plot was entertaining, the setting was familiar in its otherness, and the characters were likable, well drawn and relatable. Furthermore, Stephanie Plum, the heroine, was rather humorous when remarking on the going’s on of the Berg and her family, and made me giggle at the situations she managed to find herself in. The pace was perfect for turning pages quickly, and before I knew it, I had completed the book. Naturally I wanted to keep reading, though I admit, More...

I finished the second book of the Stephanie Plum series in about 3 days. Evanovich really knows how to make a reader keep turning the pages!

This book was just as good as the first one. Evanovich still had me chuckling.

I must say I was VERY excited to see that Joe Morelli was also in book 2. I thought he was going to be gone when book 1 finished. I was very happy to see he is a part of the cast of characters that is going to be sticking around. He is a great character, mys More...

NOTE: I am know I am one of the last people ever to start reading this series but better late than never right? It is as fun (so far) as people said. Stephanie Plum is one hot mess :)

Audio Review: C.J. Critt actually did a wonderful job with the narration. My problem was with the long pauses between chapters. I am guessing that it is because the book may have be More...

This is lightweight stuff -- modestly funny and easy to read. It struck me that there was no particular reason for this one to end. It felt as if Evanovich had decided that she had written enough pages and it was time to wrap it up. Had she desired, she could have had Stephanie continue to chase and be chased by the bad guy for several more chapters.

However, we all know that there are another 15 or so episodes to read, so that's a minor complaint.

I read these first two More...

Stephanie is back and she is treading deep waters as her assignments get more hairy and dangerous. Catching drunks and senile ladies who live at the train station is one thing but it's a whole other animal when Stephanie is in charge of apprehending Kenny Mancuso, a man with a very sick sense of humor and lust for chopping off people's body parts. Most of the parts come from the nearby funeral home that he's terrorizing and Stephanie sees this as the perfect opportunity to bring her wake loving More...

It’s a world I am unfamiliar with—the world of Chic Lit (or, if you are over 18, I refer to as Clit Lit). Even though Janet Evanovich’s books take up at least three shelves at the local Barnes & Noble, I have never noticed. Probably because they are in the Mystery section which I pass through on my way to the Science Fiction wall. I don’t look to either side for fear of turning into a pillar of salt. But—(there is always a but) I am in a strange land under strange circumstances these days and St More...

Now Stephanie's back, armed with attitude -- not to mention stun guns, defense sprays, killer flashlights, and her trusty .38, Stephanie is after a new bail jumper, Kenny Mancuso, a boy from Trenton's burg. He's fresh out of the army, suspiciously wealthy, and he's just shot his best friend.

With her bounty hunter pal Ranger stepping in occasionally to advise her, Stephanie staggers kneedeep in corpses and caskets as she traipses through back streets, dark alleys, and funeral parlors. More...

From a blog post I wrote in 2005:

Tamyra told me I should read Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series because Stephanie and I have something in common - things just "seem" to happen to us. Maria and I were talking about books and she said her Dad was reading them and sent her the first four which she loaned me. She also said they made her laugh out loud. Then, I was talking to Norene and she said she and her daughters have read all of the books.

OK, so I'm coming More...

"Two for the Dough" is the sequel to "One for the Money. Stephanie Plum returns as the inexperienced bounty hunter who works for her cousin Vinnie’s bail bond office. This time she’s after Kenny Mancuso who shot his best friend. He also happens to be a distant cousin of the vice cop Joe Morelli who is both a scourge and a blessing to Stephanie.

Kenny is supposed to be an easy catch, but as it turns out there’s much more involved. Caskets go missing from Stiva’s funeral ho More...

Evanovich is on a roll and her sequel to One for the Money, is Two for the Dough (guess what the third in the series is titled). It continues Stephanie’s career as a bounty hunter and is again populated with the same great characters. Joe Morelli, now back on the police force, is the old friend who keeps an eye on her, is probably in love with her, and can’t wait to check out her lingerie (the scene where she leaves him stranded in the middle of the street with no shorts on, then r More...

I am so enjoying the Stephanie Plum books, I love her character, her family and the other minority characters in the story. I had finished The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz and thought hmmm.. what to read next that's similar and somebody said "you might like Stephanie Plum" and I am now up to Book #3.
In Two for the Dough, we notice that Stephanie has a close relationship with her Nana and I have to say I love Grandma Plum, she is such a hoot for an old lady- in a way she reminds me More...

A while back I read and loved the first Stephanie Plum book "One for the Money" by Janet Evanovich and LOVED it! I thought it was funny, brilliant, fast paced, and just a good time. So, in the mood for something light I picked up the second book in the series, "Two for the Dough".

In "Two for the Dough" Stephanie Plum, Jersey's bounty hunting gal in training, tries to track down Kenny: a sick scumbag who is smuggling goverment issued weaponry. Along with More...

(One review for series. I think I bought to Eight.) Janet Evanovich has invented one of my favorite heroines. At some point the humor blows into fantasy, a leprechaun, a vanishing hunk; readers have to stretch.
Sequels become repetitive: she walks wide-eyed into danger, especially naked hairy targets. Humor goes overboard slapstick silly, toddler boy burp level. I like both men friends, scruffy and sleek, but her wavering gets tiring.
I even went to a live reading event with food and en More...

What happens when you are offered $10000 to search for coffins? Well you take it, duh! This is exactly what happens to our great Plum in the second installment of the Stephanie Plum series, Two for the Dough. Plum is still getting the hang of the bounty hunting thing searching for a man who shot a friend of his. But by chance, due to crazy Grandma Mazur’s obsession with More...

Oops, didn't add this to my "currently reading" list when I got it from the library. More good times from Stephanie Plum, Vinne, Joe Morelli, Grandma, and even Lula (the large Black prostitute-turned-awesome-file-clerk, I kid you not), as well as other characters (a theft of a number of cheapo caskets from a local funeral home leads Stephanie on a search for missing military weapons and a checkered background from several characters, including the funeral-home proprietor. Just so we're clear, I don't (well now I guess it's changed to "didn't") like series. They suck you in and make you keep reading their sequels. Darn you Janet for writing Stephanie Plum! Darn you!! Guess what I'll be reading next? Yes, the third book! Ugh.

It's hard not to like Stephanie. I imagine if I were a bounty hunter, I'd probably behave the same way she did and make the same mistakes she did. I didn't like this one as much as the first one, but I still really liked i More...

More fun with Stephanie Plum. I breezed through this book, enjoying it all the while. Maybe it's because I'm familiar with Stephanie's antics by now, but I didn't find it quite as funny as the first one. It's still very high on comedy though, chock-full of memorable quotes and dialogue.

Though most of the storyline is dedicated to tailing the suspects, it's thin on plot. But I realized that one reads a Stephanie Plum book not for the plot, but for the stellar cast of characters. It's More...

Stephanie Plum is at it again. A bit more proficient and always able to get into trouble over and over again. Isn't it amazing that the bad guys are so obliging as to bounce back into her path over and over again?

In this series, Grandma is my favorite character. I get a real laugh out of her hobby (attending funeral home viewings) and her antics always are a good for a laugh.

Stephanie's love/hate relationship with Joe Morelli is always interesting as the two are alwa More...

This book was a lot of fun. I've been hearing about what a great series this was and how laugh out loud it was but never had the time or inclination to sit down and read it. In needing a book to read, I finally read the first book in the series a couple of weeks ago. Not bad but not as funny as everyone had said. But it hooked me and I patiently waited for the next in the series to come into the library. I have to say, this book was much better. I really did laugh out loud in several spots More...

So as you can tell from the post title, Stephanie's grandma went completely nuts in this one. I mean, carrying a gun, shooting it several times, and dying her hair strawberry blonde? SHE'S NUTS. And I like it :)

This book made me laugh alot. I mean every chapter I was laughing out loud and my family is like, what is so funny? Well I can't tell them that a girl got mad at a guy and left him mostly naked in the street, before going back and giving him his gun and saying "Just in case More...

Stephanie Plum is at it again in the second book of her series. I'd be lying if I said I enjoyed it more than I enjoyed the first book though. Having character development done in the first book already, I found this book to be sort of....boring. The plot wasn't very thought provoking, it was quite easy to determine the books outcome and I found the "villains" to be boring as well (I thought the name Moogey Bues was so stupid). The character that I enjoyed the most was Joyce Barnhardt, More...

These books are hardly high literature, but who cares? The ones I've read so far are fun, compelling, and quick. Like dessert I didn't have to make, myself.

This book has Stephanie chasing down an army vet (clues point to his serving during Gulf Storm) who shot his best friend in the knee. Of course, it goes much deeper than that, and Stephanie has to dig into all the resources she can to track him down, including Joe Morelli, her bounty hunter friend Ranger, and Grandma Mazur, who ge More...

In this novel, Stephanie is looking for Joe Morelli’s cousin, Kenny Mancuso. He recently shot his friend in the knee. Shortly after that, his friend winds up dead. Morelli ‘helps’ after being reinstated into vice, though he is running his own investigation and is hesitant to share information with Stephanie.

Things get crazy when a possible conspiracy starts unraveling, and it is a blast to go along for the ride. Stephanie also has to deal with a psycho who is sending her body parts. More...

In this second Stephanie Plum novel, the lingerie-buyer-turned-bounty-hunter is forced by practical and accidental reasons to work with Joe Morelli, her former lover and current pain in the neck. They are both on the trail of Kenny Mancuso: Stephanie needs the access and info Morelli (he of the Trenton Police Department's vice squad) can provide, while Morelli is counting on Stephanie's knack for accidentally bumping into her targets.

The hunt for the first-time offender turns out to More...

Why did I wait so long to start reading this series? My husband doesn't know what to think when I'm reading, I'm scared one minute and laughing so hard that I nearly pee my pants.

Part of me thinks I am Stephanie Plum. I'm pretty clumsy and somewhat incompetent, especially if I was a bounty hunter. It's so easy to see myself in this character. Morelli and Ranger are both hot and dangerous - I'm leaning toward Ranger being her love interest...he reminds me a lot of my husband. Always More...

"Fugitive apprehender" Stephanie Plum is buried (so to speak) in her latest hunt for Kenny Mancuso, charged with shooting a gas station attendant (also his former best friend) Moogey Bues, in the knee. Naturally, he's violated his bond contract with Stephanie's employer, Cousin Vinnie. Someone has now finished the job by killing Moogey Bues. Joe Morelli, Trenton, New Jersey's not-so-finest, is also looking for Kenny, his cousin, and suggests that he and Stephanie bury some old hatchets More...
