Reading this book was like eating an entire box of Hostess Ho Hos by myself--I knew it was a bad idea while I was doing it, and afterwards I felt angry and embarrassed that I did it. Even for a mindless, chick-lit beach-read, this book stretches the limits of credibility! And even if you like the author's Stephanie Plum Bounty Hunter series, forcibly thrust this book into the nearest trash can if you ever see a copy of it.
Wealthy newspaper owner and horseman Nick Kaharchek meets divorced mom Billie Pearce when she makes polo lessons at his stables part of her summer self-improvement program.
Though she’s hopeless at polo, Billie is so cute that Nick begins to invent excuses to spend time with her. First, he takes care of her when a horse steps on her foot; then, he arranges for his nutty cousin Deedee, a self-absorbed airhead, to board with Billie while her kids are away.

definitely nowhere near as good as the stephanie plum series, but not as bad as some people have been saying. i mean, sure, it's trashy, and more sugar than spice, but it's sweet. i have to say that i definitely missed ranger and joe morelli (and diesel), kaharcheck's charms paled in comparison to ranger's bad-boy sexual appeal, and joe morelli's bad-boy-gone-good nature.

I read Full House by Janet Evanovich. I recommend this book. It's a story of a lady who is divorced because her ex cheated on her and wanted to try new things. He was always the best when it came to sports; therefore the 2 kids thought he could do anything. With her kids gone with her ex a while during the summer, Billie Pearce knows she needs exercise and wants to try something adventurous. She wants to learn how to play Polo. Eventhough she has been around horses, this does not equate with pla...more
By Janet Evanovich. Grade B
I started reading this book on a lazy summer day, a rather apt time for a story set up in the green hills of Loudoun County, Virginia where it is always breezy and the sun shines cheerfully.

Poorly done collaboration
I am a huge fan of Janet Evanovich. I own a copy of every book she ever wrote, including Full House in its original version. I am convinced that the reason over 70 disappointed reviewers (to date) can't recognize Evanovich's wonderful comic voice in this rewrite is because the rewrite gave the book Charlotte Hughes's voice, which is (sorry, Ms. Hughes) plodding and flat (I really disliked Hot Shot, which I only read because I heard Evanovich liked her so much she had her...more

Oops, I read #2 in the series before I read this one which is #1.
I do remember reading this one before. Cute story. This one starts off with the meeting of Billie and Nick and about their possible romance. It has Dee Dee getting ready to marry Frankie and Nick just can not handle having her in his home right now and Max is a teenager and causing a bit of a ruckus. Nick makes a deal with Billie and convinces her to let DeeDee stay with her until the wedding comes along.

If you're expecting something along the lines of the Stephanie Plum mysteries, this book is not for you. Full House must be viewed on its own. It's not as action-packed as Evanovich's more recent best sellers, although there's some action and a car does in fact get blown to bits. Full House, originally published in 1989 under the pen name Steffie Hall, is obviously the same author we love so much, but in her earlier days.

I laughed my a$$ off. This was a good story with characters that made it GREAT! I stayed up all night to finish this one, and I woke up my 7 yr old in the other room at one point because I was laughing so hard. (bad mommy-I assured him everything was ok and he fell right back to sleep) After that I held a blanket up to my face whenever the book got me going. I just recently saw Bridesmaids in the theater, and LOVED it. (might have peed my pants just a little from laughing so hard- darn side effe...more

Full House is one of those light hearted romances that are easy to read, entertaining and best while sitting on a beach watching the waves. Janet Evanovich is one of my all time favorite authors. I’ve read every one of her Stephanie Plum novels. Evanovich has the ability to make events exceedingly funny, where you are laffing to the point of tears and just enjoying the time your spending somewhere else.

To start, I am hesitant to mark this as romance because it's more fluffly chick-lit than romance, but according to Evanovich that what it is so that why I tagged it like that. Same goes for mystery, I mean it's not really a mystery, but there is an element of it so might as well tag it.
I saw that many people who reviewed this gave this one or two stars because they thought it was bad and, to be honest, I can see how people would think that, but I have to admit that I love this book. I love this...more

Oh good golly! (I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing either).
Have you ever watched Desperate Housewives? This book is a season of Housewives. Rich people interacting with supposedly 'normal' people (who are still very well off and live in houses more grand than anything I can imagine). Rich people and 'normal' people getting into crazy antics, with stupid beautiful women and buff men. Both the rich and 'normal' people lack common sense, and the foreshadowing either hits you in the face,...more

After exhausting the Stephanie Plum series, I decided I would try out something else of Janet Evanovich's. I'm not huge on the "romance" stuff, but seeing as how the Plum series wasn't super heavy on it (and it was quite funny), I thoroughyly enjoyed it. When I decided to try out the Full series, I was disappointed. The writing was similar to the Plum series, however I found it lacked the humor and the interesting characters that I had come to expect from Evanovich. If you are searching for some...more
I feel like I should have given this book more than a chapter into it before I discarded and added a review, however my eyes couldn't take all the rolling. Comparing women to horses had me rolling my eyes, thinking of all the women he went after so he could screw them had me rolling my eyes and having those previously slept with women show up and have obvious problems had me rolling my eyes. As did Billie being so completely inept. Who honestly decides to take polo lessons without ever having be...more
This was a great quick read and I honestly would have given it 5 stars based on plot and entertainment value but there were a lot of random print errors: grammatical errors, certain spelling errors and then names... the names were a big point of contention for me because the wrong name would be used for several paragraphs and I would doubt who was being spoken about and have to reread for clarity. It also happened 4 or 5 times, to the point that I wrote in the book and fixed it.

A re-release and re-work of an earlier romance title by Evanovich, in partnership (now) with Charlotte Hughes. Probably a good move. The story was good, introduced quirky characters... the suspense was vague till near the end, more nuisance stuff. Mainly, this title was re-worked to set up a series partnership between Evanovich and Hughes. The second book in the series is 20 years later and centers on Max, who was 16 in the first book, which Evanovich originally wrote about that long ago. The se...more
It's definitely nice, light reading, just what I was in the mood for. It didn't require a huge amount of brain power, but was fun to read. The people were all sort of characatures, but lovable.
As is often the case with romance novels, the leading lady is in need of a husband and the leading man is a womanizer. Surprise, surprise, she reforms him with chocolate-chip cookie fumes. As corny as it sounds, and as predictable as this was, it was still entertaining. I also liked the added element of a...more

Tell me why i stayed up till 1 am on a work night reading this? Because it was written by Janet and Charlotte thats why! I tell ya. Those two, I can't ever seem to put down their books. I wanted to know what happened. But It was a good book. I originally gave it 5 stars but pulled it down t of only for the fact that about halfway through the book I guessed who the burgular was and had an idea that that person was going to be infatuated w/ Billie. I didn't think as much into it as there was in th...more
This had all the elements of being a good book, in typical Evanovich style: colourful characters, some action and danger, an element of mystery, some steamy sex, and humour. Where it didn't quite work for me was in the romance department. It was just a bit too 'Mills and Boon-ish' for me. It fell into formula, got quite unrealistic ( very wealthy man falls for divorcee housewife with 2 kids and they end up getting married very very quickly) and some of the dialogue was so sappy, it actually made...more
Certainly a dissapointment. Glimpses of Evanovich's style, but mostly the re-writing of this book by Charlotte Hughes completely smothered Evanovich's work. Characters were flat and unbelievable, and normally Evanovich's characters are so vivid and an absolute joy. Dialogue was stilted, descriptions boring and over all it was a trek to get through the entire book. Certainly not recommended ... if you like Janet Evanovich, do yourself a favour and give this one a miss!! And if you have not read a...more
I'm listening to this series of 4 of hers on CD. Lorelei King is the narrator - she does all of Evanovich's books as far as I can tell. King is amazing. She does so well changing her voice for all the different characters. Very entertaining. I would be sure to listen to these on CD - makes them 100% more entertaining.

Janet Evanovich partners with writer Charlotte Hughes to reintroduce Full House, which was originally published under the name Steffie Hall in 1989. Filled with enough characters to need a score sheet, the story moves rapidly and only somewhat predictably. When the story was updated from 1989 to 2002, a few inconsistencies - mainly in technology - were introduced, and they were distracting at times. Many of the character played to cliche, or had the opportunity to rely on backstory for depth rat...more
Okay, let me start by saying that I am *not* a fan of the Stephanie Plum books - just not my thing. And people who do like the Plum books seem to have rated this one pretty badly. With that said, I have to confess that I thought this was kind of cute - nothing extraordinary, just a cute story about a 6th grade teacher and single mother of 2, who falls for a rich playboy - what is she thinking? Chaos and mayhem with two crazy cousins, a bunch of wrestlers and a jealous ex-fiance. A little goofy a...more
Despite what other reviewers thought, I thought this book was cute, funny and entertaining. It is definitely an easy read. I would classify this as a light romantic, cozy mystery book.
My favorite character is Dee Dee as she has the funniest lines that made me laugh. Max, her brother, was also an interesting character.
Yes it is not a Stephanie Plum book and it's not supposed to be or labeled as one.

An audio book, good for long car trips and not having to think too terribly hard in following it! Light, funny and probably a typical book by Janet Evanovich. Divorcee Billie decides to take polo lessons one summer, the playboy instructor Nick is intrigued by her. She has 2 children and he has some troubled cousins as houseguests that he manages to dump on Billie for a few weeks. They have nothing in common but he is of course attracted to her.

This is not up to the standard of the Stephanie Plum novels. It is okay and a book which I got with a pile of others at a penny social. The heroine, Billie Pearce, is a nice enough person who becomes involved with a wealthy newspaper owner who teaches polo as a side interest, and has some wacky cousins--the explosive intelligent Max and his older sister Deedee, who is about to get married for the 7th? time to a professional wrestler. Billie is very wishy washy about her feelings, and the story s...more
