I have FINALLY finished this book. I bought it a few years back, but must have been distracted because I never got past the first few pages. I have managed to read all the latter books from the library, and then checked this one out and thought, hmmm, this looks familiar. Went and checked my bookshelves and lo and behold, there it was. So took the library copy back and pick this up and read it.
Very good book, kinda figured out who-dun-it early on, but then doubted myself several times wit...more

This is another China Bayles mystery. Her books are always informative about herbs, growing them, cooking with them, decorating with them, killing with them. This volume is highlighted with the murder of a woman by drowning in a pickle vat. I enjoy her characters and the way they have evolved over several books.

One of my favorites in the series. Not only is the murder interesting (and unique) but I learned a lot about making pickles (or as they say in the lowstate of SC, making pickle) and I likes me some pickle. Pickle, pickle, picklepicklepickle. Funny word, pickle.

I liked the mystery part, but I have to say that the whole Ruby and Amy interaction annoyed me. I thought all the dill pickle jokes were punny, but they still made me smile.
