I read this book when I was in high school. I didn't know it then but this book proved to be a pivotal period in my life. Up until then I had wanted to be a soldier. Or soldier of fortune as long as I got to fight and carry weapons I didn't really care. But after reading this book I asked myself seriously(amazing for me at the time) is this the life I wanted for myself? Nevermind the book was fictional I was serious about adventure! These are not that bad. Peter McCurtin usually bangs out at least five or six good hairy action scenes per book and the locales are always far-flung and exotic.Surprisingly enjoyable guilty-pleasure-pulp-trash. I am going to devour this series.
