Cut scene to the beginning of the tournament. Tournament? Why? Oh yeah... we gotta weed out the remaining slackers and the peeps who aren't doing their countries proud.

Fortunately, we're not asked to do much soul searching, here. Instead, we get some quick and interesting battles with peeps with wide abilities and mismatched aptitudes. It's a much more fun read, in general, over the previous volume, but never as mind-blowingly cool in quick instances, such as Sasuke's curse.

On the other hand, t

I got to say, the battles are pretty good. Even if there's some stuff that really should not be that long, like well, the flashback on what happened between two characters and their once friendship or whatever. I was like really, we're having this now. Oh okay then. Still gets a 4 for the fight scenes alone. I mean there's more going on in this one but still. Anyway, the series has its moments and potential. Good volume regardless.

This volume covers the completion of the second test, the introduction to the preliminary tournament, Kabuto dropping out, Sakura trying to persuade Sasuke to do the same, Sasuke fighting a leaf ninja from Kabuto's cell, Shino defeating a sound ninja, Kakashi sealing the curse mark and encountering Orochimaru, Kankuro defeating a leaf ninja from Kabuto's cell, and ended with Sakura fighting Ino.

I liked the part when Iruka accept that Naruto is a full-fledged ninja and is no longer his student b

This book is the sequel to Naruto volume 7, it continues as Naruto is wandering around the testing ground looking for a scroll he needs. Meanwhile, another trio of ninjas soon encounter a battle between ninjas from the Sand Village and yet another trio. As the first trio is hidden, they are observing how the ninja of the Sand engage in battle, something very unexpected happens, disturbing enough to make the first trio flee. They all travel in trios because it is just a form of back up and they a ...more

So, so very good to see some old familiar faces, particularly Kakashi, Iruka, Kakashi, and KAKASHI!

The third exam takes off in Naruto, Vol. 8: Life-and-Death Battles where the genins learn they must compete against each other in a one-on-one fight for the death. And that's just to get through the preliminaries in order to even get the chance to participate in the third exam! Eep! These student ninjas have such an impressive skill-set that I cannot wait to see how they develop on

Naruto and the gang have finally passed the 2nd exam. Now they move on to the preliminaries of the 3rd exam. For this one, students will have to duke it out in an all or nothing fight. However, what happens when Sasuke enters with his curse mark.

I know I already said this before but........IT'S MASTERFUL! THE DRAWINGS ARE AS AMAZING AS MAGNA CAN BE! THE STORY IS GREAT, AND IT EVERYTHING. IT HAS COMEDY, ROMANCE, ACTION, SADNESS, EPICNESS, AND EVEN A LITTLE BIT OF DRAMA. THIS BOOK SERIES IS INCRED

I think Naruto vol. 8 Life and Death Battles by Masashi Kishimoto is a great story and an easy read. I recommend this book to people who like action and books that are easy to read. The second exam is finally complete and all the candidates from the Hidden Leaf Village all made it to the next exam, but they had to go to the preliminaries first because there are too many candidates so they are cutting out some before the last exam. First Sasuke is first and he is facing a dangerous sound ninja sp ...more

Now this series is really get good (in my opinion). Naruto is seeming less like a bumbling idiot; a true camaraderie is forming between Naruto-Sasuke-Sakura; and we're getting to know so many of the other young ninjas (and all of the cool, unique skills they have)... Not to mention that we're getting more depth to the older/mentoring characters...

This volume starts us on the preliminaries to exam three, where the ninjas who made it through the Forest of Death now have to go into single-handed co

I must say it is and it will forever be(fingers crossed) my favorite Manga novel read.

the way Masashi Kishimoto described the characters is just awesome, you get to see them growing up, becoming responsible... powerful...

and it is not just characters,

The plot itself is so much bigger... u simply can't get enough of it. and add to that,

u get more than just entertainment, you learn...
what is
responsibility,
respect,
kindness,
friendship...

so it is not just a manga it is a way of living... The sprite

The one-on-one battles of the Chunin exam! I think these were some of my favorite episodes of the anime, and they remain some of the best moments in the manga. You finally get to see everyone's skills and see why the teachers of our genin class were so convinced of their teams' abilities.

A frustrating thing that I didn't remember until I read it though... spoilers ahead.

... why doesn't Kakashi, you know, do something about Orochimaru? Even if he had lost, he would have at least done something.

I read a book called Naruto Vol.8. The book is aout Naruto and his friends are taking exams to become chuin ( chuin is another level of a ninja ). So right now they have to fight against each other in one on one battles, who ever wins advances to the finals, and who ever loses gets kicked out of the exams.
I liked this book because it has to do with fighting and ninjas and stuff. The main character in the book shows a really good example on how to never give up. I would reccommend this book to w

Our team survived the Forest of Death and now are about to embark on the third exam. However, too many people made it through the second exam so they are having one-on-one battles to reduce the number of students even more. These battles have been so fun to read about! We are left with an intense cliffhanger with Sakura, who is battling Ino. Sasuke fought in the first battle and was taken away afterwards to have his mark sealed. Orochimaru showed himself to Kakashi and we ave some future battles ...more

We start off this volume with Chapter 64: Hokage's Message...!!
It's time to open the scrolls of Heaven and Earth. Turns out that both of them together summons a person. For Team 7 that person turns out to be Iruka-sensei. He explains the second test, and gives them the good news of their passing it. Now it's onto the next round of testing which is an elimination round for the official third round of the Chuunin Exams.
Cheers and Happy Readings!

The Journeyman Ninja Selection Exams continue with a nice little battle for Sasuke. The battle isn't the main thing, it's him fighting against the curse that's been laid on him and the reactions of his team mates and other contestants. The volume ends with a good look at what Sakura is capable of. I find she's often overshadowed by Naruto and Sasuke (unsurprising really) but I do like her character as well.
