After reading so many good reviews about this series, I finally caved and decided to see what all the fuss was about. Now I know... It's all about the hunky and sweet Chase brothers, of course! ;)

Giving Chase is Kyle's story, and what a charmer he is! Honorable, caring, passionate and protective, he's the son-in-law every mother dreams of - not to mention the husband every woman hopes to find. He doesn't fall fast for Maggie, but when he does... Oh boy, can I say what a charmer he is again?

4 ½ stars – Contemporary Romance/Romantic Suspense

I feel like I’m the last person to arrive at a Chase family picnic since there are already so many great and rave reviews for Dane’s Chase Brothers series, but I’m glad I made a last minute appearance for this shindig because it was well worth it!

Giving Chase is the first book in a feel good, love conquers all contemporary romance series about the four hunky Chase Brothers (Kyle, Shane, Marc, and Matt) of small town Petal, Georgia and their lovin...more

When I picked this book up last night, I didn't know how hooked on it I would be. I looked up and realized I needed to get at least 3 hours of sleep before my long day today.
All day long I have wanted to finish this book. I wanted to say, "Ummm kids...Ms. Shellie needs a Time Out for a hour or so" but instead I ended up taking 15 ADHD kids swimming...lol

I think my IQ just dropped by half after suffering the ridiculousness that is this book. It was poorly written from start to end and nothing seems to head in the right decision. It was choppy, at best. It's as if I'm reading something that is written by a 9th grader who is well versed in the topic of sex.

1. All of the characters in the story are emotionally immature. Sometimes I feel like they're all 16 and not the mid-twenties that they actually are.

2. The dialogues are horrific!

3. Having you...more

Main character Maggie is a teacher in a smallish town. She is very pretty but her looks have always been disparaged by her mother and sister, both former beauty queens. So Maggie has a very low opinion of herself.

The town is also home to the Chase family which includes the four studly Chase brothers.

Maggie has a run in with the sheriff Shane, the oldest Chase brother. They have a few sassy words. You think at first she and Shane are going to get together but Shane, after a few dates, is basical...more

I enjoyed this short, feel-good, erotic romance. Both Kyle Chase and Maggie Wright were very likable characters. Maggie had a lot of self-esteem issues brought on by the way her family treated her. Because of that treatment, Maggie accepted being thought less of by (some) others in the town in which she lived. She did have two wonderful and dear friends that were a blessing. But, when she finally started dating Kyle, he showed her how to be proud of herself and she developed a backbone that made...more

I read the e-version of this book and have re-read it a couple of times. The story has humor, hot men, and hot sex!

Maggie is a good-hearted, kinda shy schoolteacher. She also just dumped her latest no-good boyfriend. She does come out of her shell a bit when sexy Sheriff Shane Chase bumps into her, causing her to spill her chili cheese fries all over herself...and then tries to blame HER for it! She lets him have it, right there in the town's hottest bar. One of her best friends decides to cheer...more

3.5 STARS out of 5
Genre: Contemporary Romance

What an adorable love story sometimes I find that adorable is just what I need.

Maggie Wright is a high school teacher in her hometown of Petal, Georgia. In comparison to her mother and sister Janie, Maggie believes her looks to be lower than average. She dresses in clothes a size to big and keeps her beautiful long mane of strawberry blond locks secured in a bun. Toss in the fact that she sports out of date style glass...more

Okay got this one today from B&N!! Could not wait till I could read it. I am in love with the Chase brothers. Just gotta get the rest of them in the house. truely a keeper for my shelves.

Maggie has been put down all her life from her Mother and sister. Just reading what her mother and sister said to Maggie, I wanted to B*T^H slap both of them. Noone should ever be belittled the way they did her. Just set my teeth on edge.

Maggie first went out with the oldest brother Shane, but tha...more

I was hooked on this one from the start and didn't/couldn't put it down! I am sorry it took me so long to pick it up.

It's one of those stories that leaves you feeling warm and happy afterwards. The hero is PERFECT, the heroine is a spitfire!

I am anxious to get the next in the series!

2nd read 3/13/11 - loved it just as much the second read. It truly is a feel good read the second time too. Thanks Ms. Dane!

I love this book so much, so definitely 5stars.

The story was about Maggie, a teacher who has no self-confidence towards herself. She's really pretty and has a big heart, though, but her mother spent most of her life to tell the opposite to her, told her how she envied her sister Jane's beauty, and all. It's not true. She started to think that she's not pretty compared to Jane, and all men will fall for Jane instead of her.

But one day,her best friends Liv and Dee do a little magic to her, change h...more

It would be so easy to hate this book. Or at least let loose a snarkfest that could include diagrams, pictures and a lot of cussing on my part. But I’m going to take it easy on this book. Why? I’ve no idea. I just felt like not being bitchy while I’m sitting in an airport next to a guy that is trying to cover up the cigarette smell ground into his clothing and skin by wearing waaaaaay the hell too much aftershave. If I start with the bitchy, it’s going to be an even longer trip than it already i...more

A good first book in the Chase Brothers series.

Maggie is the stereotypical glasses wearing, plain-Jane that catches the eye of all the yummy Chase brothers when her girlfriend decides to give her a make-over. It's after she's been blown off by one of the brothers that Kyle Chase steps in and makes his move. I really liked Kyle and Maggie together...there was never any of the push/pull or back and forth between them, that is so often incorporated into stories like this. No him pushing her away fo...more

I really enjoyed this book, it definitely had a "feel good" kind of vibe going on! However, there were times when I thought... sheesh, that's really corny/cheesy/(insert cringe worthy adjective)!

I probably would have given it five shars, had Kyle been a bit more... I don't know, rough I guess! After reading so many paranormal, alpha male, beating on chest, she my woman, I her man kind of books... he just seemed... nice. LOL, wow, that sounds funny but it's the truth. I wanted him to take charge...more

i read Laid Bare and i loved it. this got good reviews and so i thought i would give it a shot. I am a little confused. maybe I took the book wrong. it appears to be something written by a teenager. the dialog, oh god, the dialog. it is so ridiculous i ended up laughing half the time and shaking my head in disgust the other half. maybe i wasnt suppose to take it seriously?
if ever there were an example how how a writer can grow over the years.

"3.5 stars" Giving Chase is the first book in Lauren Dane's Chase Brothers series and the first I've read by her. The story had a lot of potential, and I can see why some fans really enjoyed it. The Chase family provides a wonderfully loving, heart-warming atmosphere, the characters are likable, and there's just enough suspense on the side to keep things interesting. However, the technical aspects of the writing itself could have used a lot more polish. Either this book w...more
Joy (joyous reads)
Well, this series didn't really start off with a bang. I failed to understand how a heroine could go from swooning over one brother and then doing a switcheroo by loving another. What's up with that? I mean, sure, she's entitled to change her mind but come on. Why can't you just get to the point of the story which was Maggie and Kyle? Why bother set me up to fall in love with the idea of Maggie and Shane only to let it all turn to dust? [Sigh] Don't get me wrong, Kyle is no slouch; I just didn't...more

I've only read a handful of books by Lauren Dane but I've consistently enjoyed all of them, regardless of the genre she's writing in. Honestly, contemporary romance without any paranormal critters aren't my favorite type of books, yet Lauren Dane hooks me every single time.

I was taken by surprise by this book. And the funny thing is that it's all my fault. I didn't read the full synopsis before starting it and I thought our main characters were going to be Maggie and Shane. Imagine my shifty eye...more

The beginning of this book really had me worried, but it turned out to be a very sweet and sexy romance. I love Kyle and Maggie together, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

This ended up a 4 star read for me but the first half of the book I was scratching my head and wondering if I was reading a soap opera or a teen book - everyone was acting like they are back in high school! but they were meant to be late 20s. Are they dating; aren't they dating? Are they in a relationship; aren't they? You're a wh*re; you're a sl*t. You can't interest him; he's mine. I'm the pretty one! Puleeasse.

I also felt that the h's (Maggie's) traumatic home life prior to college, and the c...more

3 stars for Giving Chase aka Cinderella Story

Giving Chase is the first book in the Chase Brothers series by Lauren Dane.
This first book is about Kyle Chase and Maggie.

I really liked the love story between the two. Kyle is very sure of himself and knows what he wants, which I found quite refreshing in comparison to all these male characters, that fight against commitment and don't want to give in to love.
Maggie is an ok character. She is pretty insecure and has a more than problematic rel...more

Great book! I love her Brown Siblings series...the Chase Bros series, so far, isn't as erotic as the Brown series, but still very good with loads of build up to the romance. I love the family dynamics...close and full of love just as it was in the Brown series. I am getting ready to read book 2 in this series--I just hope there is not stalker in the 2nd book. That seems to be a common trend in her books I have read to date and it kinda starts to feel as though I am reading the same book with dif...more

This is going to be a short review because I'm on holidays - using the internet via my phone and I don't doubt it will cut out soon.

This is my first Lauren Dane read.

At times I absolutely loved this book...I mean, I was sitting in the lounge room of our holiday unit, staring at the children as they watched a movie and actually pondered whether they would notice if mum and dad had to duck off for a "sleep" for ten minutes...didn't happen, but the book definitely made me want to give it...more

This is more like 3.6 stars. Not quite a 4 but definitly better then a 3.

This series centers around the Chase brothers. All incredibly HOT, GORGEOUS AND LICKABLE.

Maggie and Kyle have GREAT chemistry. The sex scenes were hot and liked the story, although it was a bit childish at times. Talking about all the slutty women that kept coming up to Kyle like they owned him and looking at Maggie like she was an ugly duckling ALL THE TIME. Felt a bit like 8th grade if you know what I mean. Maggie's mothe...more

I enjoyed Giving Chase. I wasn’t sure I would like the story since Maggie seemed to really like Shane and then quickly moved on to Kyle, but I ended up loving Kyle and Maggie’s relationship. I thought Maggie’s nickname for Shane in the beginning of the book was appropriate and suited him perfectly. There were a few cheesy moments in the book, but overall I liked it and I can't wait to read about the rest of the Chase brothers. I got this book from Amazon for free, but this is one book I wouldn’t...more

Lauren Dane has been writing stories since she was able to use a pencil, and before that she used to tell them to people. Of course, she still talks nonstop, and through wonderful fate and good fortune, she’s now able to share what she writes with others. It’s a wonderful life!

The basics: Lauren is a mom, a partner, a best friend and a daughter. Living in the rainy but beautiful Pacific Northwest,...more
