Erich Segal is one of my fav authors and never fails to impress me. This book of his, goes straight to my All Time Favorite list. If there is any author who knows how to bring out emotions and make you bawl like a baby then it is Segal.

This is the second Erich Segal novel I have read..
Well all I could say is I'm very jealous of him :)
He's a gifted storyteller, his stories start of the very instant without any monologue openings and I like him especially for that..
The conversations happening between the characters in his books are some of the best I have read, these conversations have been copied and used again and again by our filmmakers..
Its no wonder this book was gave way to Shekhar Kapur's great film "Masoom (1983)" which...more

A "found" book that I picked up on a day I was sick, and finished the same day. A quick read, interesting plot, fairly good character development, despite its slim size. Having said that, I felt the author purposely set out to write a tear-jerker that would translate easily to a movie--a la "Love Story." A quick check shows that one was made. Well novel Begins in a cryptic note but soon the plot is deciphered and we go through a whole pent of emotions and like all Erich Segal's novels this novel too has a fantabulous Ending. The great thing about the book is that it shows emotions of everybody and it shows what real life relationship is like and the betrayals we face in this real World. Marriages are made in heaven, but they should be lived here on earth. It is heartwarming how something so tragic could test the love of a woman for a man who does the same but goes against his promised loyalty.

This book was a very good read, but quite sad. I saw the movie twice, in the 80's. I really enjoyed the book even though it's a very heartwrenching. I cannot say the plot without giving away the whole story. This is a must read and not a long book to read. It is a family drama that will bring tears.

Selingkuh itu pedih, Jenderal! Biar kata sekali juga, makanya jangan main-main, hehe. Anyway, ini kisah cinta yang--mungkin--temanya sudah sering diangkat, tapi seperti biasa, gaya penceritaan Segal yang simpel tapi menyentuh bikin nih buku page turner banget dibaca.
Great story...wonder if he based this on someone he knew, the story was what I imagined his life was like. Academics, and universities, and middle-aged marriages...and the things we do in life.
One of the fascinating love stories I've used to read. I think it somehow gives a teaching model of how a real family should be based on: first-love, second-mutual trust and third-FIDELITY, not only physical but also mental, which is much more important!!!
It is all about a perfect family until one mistake changed their lives forever.

This book was cheezy. The plot was intriguing, but the characters were so lame. In particular, there are three children that are supposed to be 9, 10, and 12, but speak like immature 30-year-olds. After reading the book, I read the "About the Author" section, and discovered that Erich Segal actually has a 9-year-old daughter. Lame.

read this remembering that I had previously liked love story.
a very simple story yet creates a great impact on people's lives..
Time will not erase your problem. It will always haunted you.
A happy marriage is tested when his son from the past appears.
Sappy, love story--quick read much like his other books!

Introduced a character that was ot further developed and leaves the readers wondering... Hmmm...!
