Gibson seems to be engaged in what I would call the lyric rant. What this means to me is that his poems focus on a particular event, and they rip and tear at it with a poetic verve that is immediately evocative. So if you see any one of these poems, you would be drawn to read more, and then you would see that he has more. And, oh, delightful day, you go on to read those poems.

If there was a six to the rating system I would give this new collection by Dobby Gibson that many stars.
It's the best new book of poetry I've read so far in 2009 and one of the most exciting books of poetry I have read over the last year.
What's most amazing is that this is a second collection following an excellent debut, "Polar". I always expect the work of a second collection that follows close on the heels of a stunning debut to fall off at least a little More...
