As a 4th grade writing teacher, this has been the best motivational tool I've found to convince my students that not only are their stories worth writing they are worth sharing! When I shared this story as a read aloud to my students, they had no clue it was written by a 7 year old boy. They loved so many things about this story. Their favorite parts (based on their laughs and comments): Peg Leg Chuck's patch instead of a peg leg, marking the treasure with an A, and all the tongues sticking out

THE SNEAKIEST PIRATES may not be the fanciest children's book out there. But forget that for the moment. Focus on the fact that the author of the book is a mere seven years old. That's right, Dalton James is a child! Now pick up THE SNEAKIEST PIRATES again and be impressed.
Told with simple language and Dalton's childish drawings, the story is fun and to the point. Pirate Pete (the narrator of the story) and his dad, Scurvy Jam More...

My little one has really been enjoying The Sneakiest Pirates and another book by the same author, seven year old Dalton James. In The Sneakiest Pirates, Peg-leg Chuck, a pirate who has a hook for an arm, rather than a peg-leg, steals gold from the king and buries it on an island. Pirate Pete and his daddy Scurvy James see Chuck run off. While he is on the island, they go to his ship and steal all his stuff. When Chuck gets back to his ship, the king starts chasing him. Pete and James go dig up C

I think Dalton James, author of The Sneakiest Pirates and The Heroes of Googley Woogley (review coming) is the youngest self publisher I've had the pleasure of reviewing. He wrote this first book last year at the age of seven and has now written the sequel. I had expected only to review the sequel but was sent both books.

My 8 year old son and I enjoyed reading The Heroes of Googley Woogley and The Sneakiest Pirates by Dalton James. He laughed and snickered at the made up names, places, and pictures that were in the stories. He thought it was "awesome" because his own dad's name is James like the boy in the stories. While he found both the pirates and aliens funny to read, his favorite was the alien battle in The Heroes of Googley Woogley.

The father and son team is just returning from performing the greatest rock concert, and now they are pirates. They follow Peg Leg Chuck as he takes his treasure to an island. After Peg Leg Chuck leaves, father and son, Pirate Pete and Scurvy James, steal the treasure, get back on there ship and continue their adventures.
Kids are great at creating stories, and this kid author has become one of my favorites. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

7 year old author Dalton James not only pens but illustrates this cute and humorous book about pirates who sneak up on another pirate's treasure.
