Ah, should have quit while I was ahead. While the previous book was kind of fun, this one was painful in all respects -- plotting, writing and overall voice. Not to over-analyze what even in 1966 was pretty pulpy stuff, this was just painfully bad, particularly the dialogue. Every time Drake gets captured (which is a LOT), he comes back with stuff like "might one ask a question in one's turn?" Also, what plot there is involves selling drugs to teenagers, and Leslie's attempts to sound "hip" are ...more
