ok I am going to shuck the normal review and just post my thoughts on how I felt while reading this book.
"did I miss something" "is this the first book" *re-reads the front cover* "really?" "oh come on" *puts down book* " shut up and have sex already" "this sex scene sucks" "Justice is hot!" " am I at the end yet" " Aww that was a sweet ending, now I have to read the next" The end. I kept out all the e More...

Riley Dawson has had a bad day at work, a really bad day, so she seeks solace as she always has, in sitting on the beach and watching the ocean. Just to be attacked by vampires and then saved by a man, Conlan, who claims he is from the lost city of Atlantis. The attraction between the two of them is instant and all consuming, however they also have other problems. Posiedons Trident has been stolen and they must get it before it lands in undead hands, otherwise as the crazy people with placards s More...

Wow! I knew I would like this series but never this much. I couldn't put this book down; and it is a first book in a series, which are never this good. I can't wait to see how I feel about the rest of them.

I loved the topic. This warriors from Atlantis were hot as hell. The characters were all amazing, with great and strong personalities. The heroine had a very entertaining personality; she made me laugh too many times. I loved to read about a brotherhood of warriors again. I had no More...

Suspenseful, action packed, fast moving & the right amount of romance. This is a great series that I waited too long to start. There are vampires & were-critters living among humans. The Atlanteans who are sworn to protect the humans must remain unseen & unknown to the human landwalkers. Conlan is the high prince who falls in love with a very human Riley, even though he is by Atlantean ways supposed to marry an Atlantean virgin. He & his band of 7 warriors & priest are on a quest to regain his s More...

ShortNSweet: This book started off strong for me, I enjoyed the worldbuilding and mythology of Atlantis, the alpha men, and the SCARY ass villain of Poseidon & the Atlanteans. BUT. The heroine drove me bananas. She was constantly using the terms "buster" and "buddy" in her tough talk and it was beyond off-putting. Somewhere in the middle of the book the story fizzled for me and there was a lot of unnecessary filler. The other Seven (secondary alphas) did interest me enough to More...

Couldn't finish this book. It is just like every other paranormal romance. We have the muscle-bound warrior with special powers that is part of some kind of brotherhood that protects humanity from some threat or another. Of course he comes across his life-mate, who is inevitably in some sort of danger, and takes her back to their safehouse or compound to keep her safe (and have sex). He is super jealous and possessive and growls a lot. There was just NOTHING new or interesting or original so it More...

First in the Warriors of Poseidon paranormal-romance series revolving around the Seven, an elite guard for the High Prince of Atlantis. The couple focus here is on Prince Conlan and Riley Dawson, a social worker.

My Take

This start to the series introduces us to the series' characters along with their primary mission and the dangers that accompany that mission. And if I hadn't read a couple of short stories in this series, this is probably the last installment I More...

Ok so Alyssa has me hooked already and it was just one book so far. Great read, she keeps you captivated by entwining a great story of love, honor, duty, and of course lust with great characters that will just have you wanting more. She writes with humor and sarcasm, while giving us a fill of passion and great action. We follow Conlan prince of Atlantis who has just returned after missing for seven years. Is he returned undamaged? Conlan must embark on a mission upon his arrival to keep his vows More...

I'm certainly a fan of an Atlantis centered plot line, though in this book we never really get to see Atlantis, or hear about what it's like. This is more like an urban fantasy with main characters that live underwater for awhile. The plot is pretty simple, a warrior of Poseidon steals the trident that the king is supposed to carry. The potential king returns from 7 years of torture to recover the trident. On the way he meets a woman that can hear his thoughts and project emotions. They fall in More...

I struggled with how to rate this book. This series is very popular and the writing is lovely. All of this makes me believe that the fact that I couldn't finish the book is a *me* issue rather than a story issue. Add into this - I love the premise. I loved the first quarter of the story. It got off on exactly the right foot and pacing. I like the set up and the situation. I liked the characters. Initially. Then, half way through, I had to put the book down and walk away. The hero had become a s More...

Alyssa Day's debut has muscular, to die for underwater warriors galore, but all the action happens on land. There is so much going on in this book with vampires trying to take over the world, a priest from the underwater stealing a statue for no reason and the so called King Conan coming back after 7 years of abuse from a evil vampire queen who had an incentous affair with her father who became her husband which she killed in return.(out of breath!)

Plus along the way is the the huma More...

I had a few moments of "what the???" while reading this one but on the whole, I actually really liked it. I'm looking forward to reading the next one! Conlan is prince of Atlantis and is expected to take over the throne really soon. He has just been released from seven years of torture by Anubisa, an evil Goddess who spawned the first vampire. Riley is a social worker who has the unusual ability to feel the emotions of the Atlanteans, and Conlan can also read her emotions. They can More...

Atlantis Rising” by Alyssa Day is the first book of the Warriors of Poseidon series, which is now 7 books (plus 2 novellas), with #8 coming in May, 2012. The interesting thing about this series is that I had quite a few people telling me this series was a must read, and that Alyssa Day was a great and fun writer. People make recommendations, but this seemed unanimous, especially given by different friends. Because of our group read here on Bodice Rippers, I read “Atlantis Rising”, and am now j More...

Atlantis Rising is book 1 in Alyssa Day's Warriors of Poseidon series.

Riley Dawson is a social worker in Virgina Beach who is close to burning out if she's not there already. She's just witnessed too many bad situations and deaths with her job. She feels that she is fighting an uphill battle with all losses and no wins. When she fails yet again to help a client, she needs comfort. Maybe a visit to the beach will help clear her head of the awful pictures that are left behind f More...

At the begging i was a little skeptical about this book because it sounded like a comic book, but it was still interesting and now when i finished the book I can say that i enjoyed it a lot. It reminds me to Black Dagger Brotherhood, because in this series each book is for a different Warrior of Poseidon just as BDB, but here the warriors ate just different, but they also find they sole mats. The only thing that annoyed me was in some of the hot scenes when Riley and Conlan were saying all the t More...

It was a fun read. I'll definitely pick up the rest of the series at some point. Day did the conventional approach (nothing wrong with that so long as it's executed well, and it was) that makes Atlantis a land ruled by Poseidon. Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series, on the other hand, gives Atlantis its own gods and mythology, but still connects it to Greek mythology. I wouldn't say one approach was better than the other; just different.

Atlantis Rising definitely has its own backsto More...

I was pleasantly surprised by this book as the cover shouted naff and corny right at me. I did write a lovely summary, but my computer decided to delete my oridinal review, so I'm just going to summarise the highs and lows:
Lows - Conlan is released from 7 years of torture by an evil goddess on the same day that the trident is stolen - this is never explained.
- The Warriors of Poseidon, including Conlan, their Prince are all tied into marriage to unknown, millenia old Atlantian w More...

Even though this is the first in the Atlantis series, this is not my first story by Alyssa Day. I actually started with a short story in a collection that included one of my favorite authors and discovered her there. From that novella I started to pick up the more recent Atlantis stories except I didn't start at the beginning so now I'm trying to get caught up. It was great to be re-introduced to characters I've already fallen in love with when I read their stories but to also see how it all beg More...

Potential spoilers - not really sure if this counts but FYI. Seriously wanted to like this book. I love paranormal and Atlantis totally intrigues me. It was going along ok (not great, but I was getting through it) until Riley's sister Quinn showed up. Quinn was so irritating I wanted to jump into the book and beat her up. I think she was supposed to be a little bad ass (?) but she ended up just sounding like a raging idiot. She kept calling Conlan and the warriors names like fish face (may More...

A solid meh. Maybe should have been a two star, but I'll go with the benefit of the doubt for now. *edit - upon further consideration it was only worth two.

So the Prince of Atlantis was captured and tortured by a goddess of evil for seven years. That's an awful lot of torture. Then she just lets him go? Don't understand that. First day back he takes his seven most trusted warriors and sets out for another quest? Don't understand that either. A lot of other things happen with no More...

OMG - this was the best book ever - it made me laugh, made me cry, filled my heart full of joy, aroused me sexually and my wonderful husband payed for it - LOL

The story wraps around Conlan, the high prince of Atlantis and the emphath Riley - who is blessed with a mind link that only Atlanteans have been able to access for thousands of years.

The characters in this story are awsome and very humorous and of course the badass warriors. The story is full of adventure in their More...

I liked the story line -though familiar, it flowed well and I didn't have to skip parts. I liked that it had a new paranormal twist, though not played out well. (It seems to be missing something- like, maybe Atlantis...) I felt cheated that I didn't learn much about Atlantis, but it is a series and hopefully that will be remedied. I also didn't like the way the warriors seemed to always fight with each other, granted their predetermined life offered little room for hope/happiness, so More...

I picked this one up after so many people on Goodreads recommended it. Overall I liked the first in the Warriors of Poseidon series. However, I spent too much time comparing this to J.R. Ward's Black Daggar Brotherhood series. Let me state right now, the Warriors of Poseidon in no BDB. There are a lot of similarities. I did enjoy reading about Conlan and Riley. Conlan is a tortured; soon-to-be king of Atlantis hero and Riley is an empath social worker. At times, Day More...

I am hoping this will captivate me more...i'm on page 74 of 280...3 days later - I was not addicted to this story. It did not flow well for me and the transitions from villain to hero were quite choppy. I give the author credit for her creativity and incorporation of other supernaturals - vamps, shifters, and "Atlanteans."

Atlantis Rising by Alyssa Day is a pretty good read. The first few chapters held conversations that were exceptionally fake, but after that, the writing really took off! I LOVE the plot about a human empath named Riley and the high prince of Atlantis, Conlan; vampires and shape-shifters have just come out in the public eye, and Conlan and his warriors must protect the human race. The relationship between the main characters is very intense, and their shared thoughts make it both intimate and int More...

Loved this book! This is a fresh look at the world known as Atlantis and the beings that live there. I like the cross over between our world above and the warriors that secretly watch over us.

Conlan, prince of atlantis, is coming to terms with what will be his place and rightful duties to the throne of Atlantis, but he's thrown a curve in the pervurbial princely path. Her name is Riley, a human and an empath, and she's in trouble. Who better to rescue her then a sexy Atlantian warri More...

If you like strong, protective, posessive, alpha heroes, and heroines with a lot of spunk and special powers, than you will probably like this book. This book reminds me of jr wards BDB series a little bit with the big, buff warriors with different powers and similar names. Although that's where the similarities end. It's definitely not as complex as the BDB series but great in it's own way. Not only are there Warriors from the fabled Atlantis, but there are also shapeshifters and vampir More...
