the power showed what friendship and love really mean to a person. cassie showed her loyalty and honesty to her friends in a way that she's do everything for saving them. she also showed he courage and bravery that she hadn't even showed in her life except when she saved adam when they first met. cassie's sense of righteousness between good and evil and right and wrong was shown in this book through her defiance against her evil witch father who sought to control over the circle.

This is the final novel in the Secret Circle trilogy, which I read when it first came out, back when I was a kid. Do yourselves a favor and read it- infinitely more complex than the TV series, and it explains why Harry Potter felt like a bad cliche.

Rereading this trilogy was startling- I had forgotten how good it was, how well-developed the characters were, and how strikingly Cassie- the protagonist- goes from being a meek mouse to becoming a strong and capable leader, despite her own self-doubt...more

I picked up this series because I’ve heard its going to be hopefully made into a tv show…I don’t know what I was expecting when I read this trilogy (which I got through in about three days) but I don’t think it was met…this book series just wasn’t very good…it was in no way bad….I’ve read bad, and this isn’t it…But its not very good either, its more “meh”, and bland as hell…

I could stand cassie most of the time, but she’s an utter a moron and a terrible mary-sue (actually all the characters are...more

The Power is the third and final book in The Secret Circle trilogy by L J Smith. In this story, the Circle are shattered by Faye's revelations at a time when they need to be at their strongest. Black John is back, and Cassie is horrified when it is revealed why she feels such a strong connection with him. He has returned to claim the Master Tools and become the leader of the coven of twelve that he had such a hand in creating - which means that one member of the Circle must die...

I am so glad I had the trusted opinion of a dear friend on this book series because I may not have finished them if I didn't. The first book was really hard for me to get into, I didn't feel that pull to get back to it and I really had to push myself to finish it. By the end of the first book things started to pick up and I found the second book a bit easier to read. It was a bit painful at times watching Cassie struggle through her own inner demons and for Faye to toy with her so much but I fel...more

L.J Smith is one of my favorite YA authors. She proved it again with the Secret Circle series. I believe the VD are nothing compare to the SC.

Well, let me start with the final It had EVERYTHING: suspence, terror, romance (well I wanted dome more between Adam and Cassie:P), emotions... The writing was as always stimulating, the atmosphere magical and mythical. I felt like being in the Middle Times!

The characters were again amazing- so much emotions from Cassie and Adam, but I really fell for N...more

Cassie and the Circle have to figure out what the dark energy is. They think that it might be Black John. A very evil man. Cassie finds out that she has a powerful line in her family. She also finds out one dreadful thing about black John. He’s her father. Now she either has to kill her own father and let everyone die or join him to reign at his side and carry on what he had begun with the .

This book actually reminds me of star wars because Luke Skywalker was good until he became the apprentic...more

The Power, the final book in The Secret Circle trilogy offers a satisfying and entertaining conclusion to the overall plot of the series. The circle's battle against Black John offers some surprising twists and ultimately delivers the action readers have been waiting for.

Cassie's romantic endeavors continue to be an issue, even in this final book. The entire situation is finally and rather publicly resolved, but not to any degree of realism. I don't care how perfect a person may be, no teenage g...more

At first I thought that I wouldn't like this book and I would finish that series just for the sake of it. I was really surprised because I gradually started to like the books, I was warming up to the story and I began to understand the characters. It was great to see that Cassie has grown into a much stronger person with confidence. The conclusion on the whole evil spirit thing was exciting and full of suspense, but the thing with Cassie and Adam, was kind of flat for me.It was explained there h...more

The 3 books that form the trilogy of the secret circle could easily have been put together and sol as one book. Books 1 & 2 just stop, and the next chapter is picked up as chapters 1 of books 2 & 3. Separeting the story into 3 volumes is clearly a trick by the publishers to make the reader buy 3 separate books. Amazon (uk) curently are selling books 1 & 2 as one volume for £4.89, and then books 2 & 3 as one volume for £4.19 - ok you have 2 buy 2 separate volumes - but you end up...more

This book starts right where the second book left. And boy what a cliff hanger the second book left at!

Cassie and the coven are finding it odd with Faye as the new coven leader. They're trying to do everything they can to defeat Black John and discover who was behind the murderers but with Cassie's grandmother gone and Cassie's mother incapacitated just who are they supposed to tu...more

Better than the previous one, though the ending seemed a little too easily resolved. The big bad Black John was a threat since the first pages, but somehow they got rid of him in the next to last page of the final book? Really? And the fact that still amazes me is that Cassie is more in love with Diana than Adam. And what was that with all that go kiss her, I know you want to business? A girl just gives up her boyfriend for no reason and wants to see how he kisses his new girl? In what world tha...more

Back in middle school I borrowed this book from my cousin during some random holiday event at my Grandma's house. As with any book, I had it read before we left, so she took it with her. I never read the first three, and over the years I completely forgot the title of the book and most of the content, except the silver cord. After many years of research (thank you internet), I finally located the name of the series and was able to buy the books on ebay (before the re-release).

It is a testament...more

Just a little bit of teenage wish fulfillment. Or should I say witch fulfillment? Outsider makes good with cool crowd, meets hot boy, becomes powerful witch. Honestly, what's not to like? It's John Hughes gone Wicca, with just enough depth to make a satisfying read. As in her Vampire Diaries, Smith does tend to leave some of her most interesting characters swinging in the wind with her endings - one always wonders (hopes!) if the also-rans might get their own series one day. (Review reflects en...more

The Power is the final book in The Secret Circle series by L.J. Smith. With the support of the coven Cassie stands against enemies old and new. Black John seems to be one step ahead at all times. Is there a traitor in the coven? Portia and her brothers return in this stunning conclusion to hunt the members of the coven. Despite all of her struggles, Cassie becomes a stronger witch and in the end, defeats evil.

I love L.J. Smith's books now as much as I did in my preteens. They are fun, exciting,...more

“Cassie looked up at him, her fingers still intermeshed with his. "Sorry," she said unsteadily. "I was just scared."
"Remind me to get you scared frequently," Nick said. He looked slightly dazed.”

“Looks like Faye's doing a little extracurricular activity," a voice behind her murmured, and Cassie turned gratefully. Nick nodded at the guy who was occupying the seat there, and the guy scrambled up and left. Cassie hardly noticed the occurrence, it was so common. The kids from Crowhaven Road indicated what they wanted, and the outsiders gave it to them. Always. It was the way things worked.

Nick sat in the vacated chair and took out a pack of cigarettes. He opened it,
shook one forward. Then he noticed Cassie.

Cassie was staring at him with her eyebrows lifted, her best Diana expression on. Disapproval radiating from her like heat waves.

"Ah," Nick said. He glanced at the cigarettes, then at her again. He tapped the protruding cigarette back into place and tucked the pack in his pocket.

"Bad habit," he said.”
