I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a beach person. I love being near a city, the accessibility to so many opportunities and activities, the busyness of it all...but I will also admit that this book has made me appreciate the beauty and calm of a beautiful, water-edged beach.

In each short recollection, Spurr takes the reader to a world of no worries or cares, telling tales of humor, sorrow, and relaxation. A quick read, Spurr's
I came across the Beach Chair Diaries, by Janet E. Spurr while browsing on Amazon. As a life long beach lover, I thought this might be the perfect summer book to take along on a summer get a way. The thing is I couldn't wait till summer once I got this book in my grips.

A fun collection of (20) short summer fun stories on beaches from Maine to Maui. Each story just several pages long is followed by summary questions titled: Low Tide Times, to help the reader reflect about their own beach memories
I was in Maui at one of the many ABC stores, looking for some souvenirs for family, and I saw this little book peeking out behind some Elvis books. I bought it and took it back to our condo and proceeded to read it while I sat on our balcony, sipping wine, and listening to Journey. It is a quick, easy read, and as always, I love true stories about others' travels and experiences. The author has you longing to be on the beaches of the Northeast and surfing in Maui, all at the same time.

Great read. Janet makes you feel like you are at the beach. You want it to be summer all year round.

This is a fun frolic of a book. Janet Spurr's warm, lyrical writing style kept me captivated in my own beach chair. Love the pages at the end of each chapter that draw in the reader to enter the author's world. It's a must for summer reading!

My favorite book of all time. Read it and it will take you to the beach and to the feelings of summertime anytime.

Lack of substance was not redeemed by shallow humor and cliched humor. Would not recommend this book.
