You'd think a book about an obscure and now completely defunct political regime centred in Guangxi, in the south of China near the border with Vietnam, would be a tad more dispassionate , compared to the understandbly more partisan studies of the KMT regime or the rise of Communist power. But Levich does his passionate, partisan best, in his fervour to argue that the Kwangsi Clique was the 'Third Way' between Mao and Chiang.
