I much preferred this over the first Joseph Rouletabille book, The Mystery of the Yellow Room. This felt more crafted than the first, which is quite a feat considering the first one was nothing to sneeze at. The reader learns more about Rouletabille this round, back to his childhood and what sparks his memories of the lady in black in the first book. It's not required to read The Mystery of the Yellow Room first, but I think it enhances the reading to already have a little idea as to who this...more
