Her brother's near mortal wounding hadn't done it. Fleeing to the rolling hills of the Highlands had failed as well. And while being captured by the most dangerous-looking Scotsmen she'd ever imagined had come close, it was staring up at two of the thickest, most well-muscled thighs she'd ever seen that drove Kyla over the edge. But the madness that overwhelmed her felt st

Okay, I know this book is considered old (published in 2000, twelve years? not old to my thinking) but I really enjoyed this humorous highlander story.

Our heroine (Kyla) is abducted by our hero (Galen) as he steals her from the man who killed his wife who happens to also be the man to whom Kyla is betrothed (against her wishes). This is his Sweet Revenge. The premis isn't new but the story is like a situation comedy, the misunderstanding between men who act like real men and the women who have t

Some of my most favorite historical romances to read are the ones set in the Highlands. I also tend to favor the lighthearted romances. Sweet Revenge by Lynsay Sands is a hilarious romp, and I really did enjoy it, although it isn't particularly memorable.

Kyla is on her way to be married, when her travelling party is attacked and Laird Galen MacDonald kidnaps her and marries her himself as revenge against his enemy (Kyla's intended). This is actually a good thing, as the man Kyla is supposed to m

The Story:

I’m honestly too lazy to write the kind of review this book deserves. It was fun, funny, adventurous and very entertaining. I always love Ms Sands characters. The names of these seem familiar from her newer Highlander series but perhaps I just listen to too many books and I’m getting confused.

Over all this is a solid listen. The narrator is great and the material is also.

This was ok. I've been reading outside of my normal genres a bit lately and I was looking for something light hearted and romantic and that's pretty much what I got. It was just so formulaic that I found it kind of boring. It's hard to criticise the book for what it is supposed to be - it's supposed to be written to a formula, it's a romance for gods sake! It just felt like I have read this story a thousand times before. I've learned my lesson anyway! On to something else!

One of the characters loses height throughout the story. First she is barely 5 feet tall, then four and a half, then just a little over 4 feet. Fairly entertaining, otherwise.

my second and last book from the author. Sands' heroines always seem TSTL to me. I truly have trouble respecting the women in her books.

A lusty tale with a strong heroine who captures the hearts of her kidnapper & his people all while recovering from a servere wound.

This one resourceful lady that diabolical plotters can't seem to pin down long let alone keep hold of. Lots of twists to hold interest & fun to be had as the confusion of events unravel amongst rumours of madness.

I truly really wanted to like this book. I have read many of Lynsay Sands books and have enjoyed many of them. This one seemed to start out pretty good and it had the ability to have been a four star read for me however it fell short somewhere after the 10th chapter. I didn't feel the love connection between Galen and Kayla. I didn't feel that he really was seeking revenge but more likely that he was bored. I didn't believe the reason behind the revenge knowing later on that he didn't really lov ...more
This book was just very average - I think that's really the only good word to describe it. I don't think it adds anything new or interesting to the genre of highland/historical romance, and there wasn't anything particularly endearing about the characters.

The story is pretty basic (view spoiler)

This book was originally given to me as a gag gift for Christmas. Yet I read it despite my previous adversity to harlequin novels. The first 5 or 6 chapters are harder to read, there is a lack of flow and seem a little forced, whereas once you get past the smut scene, it flows easily and the last 20 or so chapters just fly by. Some pieces of dialogue and situations will make you laugh just with the absurdity, sappiness, or plain ridiculousness. The romance between the characters (despite the sit ...more

Scozia, Medioevo

I had no idea I'd be a fan of romance novels that take place in the Scottish Highlands, but here I am on my fifth or sixth of the kind...I've lost count.

I'd prefer her not to have been so ridiculously defiant, but overall the characters were likable and it was a good read.

Lynsay Sands does it again, spinning another beautifully written book that captivated and had me rooting for the heroine. Well written and had to re-read it for the 2nd time, truly an unforgettable book.

Amused Shae was amused. This was a book full of lots of confusion for the heroine. Very funny - and had the typical lulz found in a Lynsay Sands book.
This was a fun and humorous read that is set in medieval Scotland.

Really enjoyed this quick historical romance. Kyla annoyed me in the beginning, she was frustrating because she constantly rebelled against a scenario that was quite obviously the best outcome. At the same time, her verve and restlessness is a great reason for Galen to love her. He proves it is unconditional under several scenes of duress, and like all good romances, the lovers don't confess their love for one another until it hits a critical mass and they can't contain it any longer, and that m ...more

A surprisingly charming reissue from a favorite author.
While most people would view being kidnapped as a terrible way to end an already bad day, for Kyla it means she is saved from being forced to marry a man she despises. Unfortunately, this further means that she is now married to her kidnapper- a highland warrior she doesn't even know. Never fear, in true Sands tradition, after much hilarity, confusion, suspense, and passion, Kyla and Galen eventually wind up exactly where- and with whom- th

Meine Meinung:
"Süße Rache" ist ein historischer Liebesroman

When I found out I won this from Goodreads I was beyond excited. Even though I haven’t read much by Lynsay Sands, and it’s been years since I last picked up one of her books, I remember really enjoying what I’ve read by her.

Unfortunately I was in a reading slump when this book showed up, so even though I was thrilled to have it, I didn’t read it right away. I didn’t want to force myself to read something I wasn’t in the mood for and end up hating it. So last week when I was finally in the mood f

There is something I cannot understand when authors make their heroines "badass" warrior types.
It's one thing being active, brave and confident and another, totally different, acting too fatally reckless, dashing into any possibly lethal situation with no second thought. The latter is plain stupid.
And it's the kind this heroine is made of.
I got tired of her near-death escapades and almost felt sorry for the hero, forced to save her from herself again and again.
I didn't enjoy the book.

Well I guess the star , in my all life I never read anything where the characters seem to have head problems... This books lacks common sense, It hurts brain , how can somebody say Lord and in front of his wife call him by his name like and all the actions have no sense in general. I don't see where is the romance or the love , may be some lust about a hot looking guy. May be you could find smth in this book but I could not.
