I recently was lucky enough to hear Austin Straus read, and being able to inject his voice and inflection really made these poems come alive for me. I'm not sure how well I would have connected otherwise, because these poems certainly aren't for me. Some are universal, the love poems especially, but others speak to a world that I'm not really a part of (the many nostalgia poems come to mind). I still enjoyed the poems very much, but they weren't speaking directly to me.
