My grin should be near to blinding about now...I just finished reading "My Man Michael" by Lori Foster and LOVED it! Her fourth book in the SBC Fighters series is packed with humor and heart-warming, heavy breathing romance from page one. Foster has managed to combine science fiction, fantasy, humor, and romance in a story that's almost guaranteed to make you say "Awwww" several times, yet still has a spicy, modern edge and blistering sexual tension.

Michael or M More...

I LOVED THIS BOOK!! I was totally shocked by the turn this book took right off the bat. It was much different than her other SBC Fighter books, in my opinion. But not in a bad way!

Michael (Mallet) Manchester is injured and told he will not be able to fight again. Needless to say, he's pretty bummed! Then, out of the blue (literally!) Kayli appears and offers him a new life, in a new place, with working legs! Even though he thinks she's a little off her rocker, (or maybe he's a littl More...

I really enjoyed this one. I know there is a lot of concern that Ms Foster took this one in a different direction, choosing to use the time-travel theme to the future. I feel she did a wonderful job. I liked the misleading hint of the Cinderella theme but I don't want to give away any spoilers.

I'm sorry, I just couldn't warm up to this book. Maybe because I hate sci-fi? No, not really. It was the just the sudden, jarring change of story within the series and the book itself that made me hate it. Really, I rarely use the word hate in reviewing stories, but this book, I was really disappointed. Mainly, because after seeing that Mallet was actually a nice guy, I was really looking forward to his story. Within the SBC setting. I was expecting him to overcome 'normal' recuperative obstacle More...

I love that this book has it all! Even my husband read it! Mixed martial arts fighter Michael “Mallet” Manchester was on his way to the top when an accident destroyed his leg and his chance at the championship.

While he is recovering in the hospital a beautiful woman shows up and promises she can heal his leg, but he then has to do her a favor.
Michael thinks she’s nuts (and beautiful) and agrees just to get a kiss. Imagine his surprise when she heals his leg and whisks him away More...

I tried really hard to like this book, but it just wasn't happening for me. It's supposed to be part of the SBC series, but it's really not, IMHO. It's just not at all what I expected, the abrupt change in genre/plot, I mean there was never any warning that this series would ever be more then just contemporary stories about some extreme fighters. I ended up skimming just to get to the end, and hoping the hero woke up to find he'd been dreaming. I'm not sure if it was the time travel aspec More...

This book was reviewed for Musings of a bookworm

The Blurb
On the verge of a title shot match, fighter Michael “Mallet” Manchester is injured in a car accident. And just as quickly as his career was taking off, it’s over. Then Kaylie Raine appears, offering him a second chance at becoming whole. Even though Mallet thinks it’s the pain medication talking, he accepts her challenge. And on an extraordinary journey with Kaylie, he’ll get a chance to fight again—to save the woman who More...

This book was surprisingly not good. I generally enjoy Lori Foster's books. Although she's not the greatest author ever, and she sometimes makes me roll my eyes with her unrealistically written characters, overall she's usually entertaining enough, and the sex scenes are on the steamy side, so she would normally get at least three stars. This book was a whole different caliber from what we usually get and it was cheesy as hell. I usually try to shy away from writing anything that could be co More...

The odd thing about this book is that it's the reason I started reading this series. I was specifically looking for scifi romance, ran across this title, but when I noticed it was part of a series, I went back to the beginning to read the books in order. All in all, I am so glad I did, because had I read this first, I probably would never have picked up another book by this author.

Since I came at this series from a different perspective than many other readers, I wasn't put off by t More...

I am a BIG Lori Foster fan and I really wanted to love this book. Unfortunately I didn't really like it. All the right ingredients were there - guy & gal meet; have great chemistry; fall in love; have passionate love scenes; overcome adversity that stands in their way and fiddle-di-dee...all's well that ends well and they live happily ever after.

I didn't enjoy the sci-fi element, it just didn't work for me. Perhaps if this was a separate story or series it may have worked better. More...

Well, I always look forward to a Lori Foster book, but I was hesitant to read this last one due to the negative review on Amazon.com. It seems that our author has decided to throw a curve ball into the mix of her most recent book: a time travel aspect. I definitely agree with the general Foster audience that it was a bit of a disappointment for the series to take such a random leap. However, having read all the reviews of the strange new direction for this installment of the SBC fighter books, I More...

There's no such thing as a bad Lori Foster book. She's one of my go-to authors b/c I can usually count on her. This isn't one of my favorites of hers, but it's still a very strong offering. The whole time-travel thing didn't bug me, but it did feel a little out of place in the ongoing series. However, this makes it a perfect crossover book for readers of her LL Foster books who don't dig most contemporaries. The little bit of Sci Fi might win them over. Also, it's been a while since I've seen an More...

Oh Foster, what have you done? Okay, do not let this book scare you away from the series by any means, but in all honesty if you like the series, you may want to skip this book. I NEVER say that about a series because I am all about reading them in order, but here is the thing: it's also a sci-fi romance novel. I didn't mark this as a spoiler because I think it doesn't spoil the book, and it is important to know for those who do not like sci-fi. I do not. I don't do time-travel, robots, etc More...

This one threw me for a really big loop!! This is part of her SBC fighters series, so imagine my surprise when I start reading and all of a sudden it became a futuristic sci-fi book.

It was strange and unexpected, especially since this is the fourth book in a series that is contemporary romance.

I still liked the book, and thought it was good but I was a little too confused throughout the beginning to rate it higher than a 3. I found myself wondering, "What the hell is More...

Lori Foster proves once again that she can tackle anything...case in point sci-fi/futuristic romance.

Followers of her SBC series have seen slices of Michael "Mallet" Manchester, his character growth preparing him for a novel of his own. It's nice to see his transformation from whiny pr*ck to little brother to leading man.

I really loved that she was "thinking outside of the box" for this one. We certainly could have had another I'm-training-for-the-bel More...

The storyline is intruiging. I could not bear to put down the book!

Kaylie is from the future and she has picked Michael as the one who will save her colony from the bad guys. So she brings him to the future and it is an eye-opener to him and to me. The things one can do in the future... Wow.

Anyway, what I find interesting about this is that the book is set in the present then by some incident, Michael is transported to the future. A fresh take on things, given that there More...

I had a really hard time getting through this book. First, because I was distracted by the sudden shift in genre within the same series. How can we go from set of really hot fighters finding, loving and protecting women to a set-in-the-future, going-into-the-cheesiest-war-EVER, and a horrible "secret" that's revealed 1/4 of the way in? There was no surprise in the storyline except that the characters are horrible, snotty people one day and *poof* mushy the next day. Yeesh!

OMG. This is not what I was expecting AT ALL. I get that authors need something that excites them and makes them interested, butit's rather weird. I am skimmiing it - I'm not a big fan of " The Virgin's First Sex Experience", so that's a bit of a problem too. I guess I want to know if Mallet goes back to the SBC. Seems like LF has run out of characters to write about. I think she's done a good job with theones she has.

The setting of this one was a surprise, the future. Interesting, but hard to stick to it to finish it.

Fighter Michael "Mallet" Manchester is on the verge of being an SBC fighting champion. But before he can step into the cage for a shot at the title, a car accident destroys his dream. His right leg is so severely damaged that the doctors tell him he'll need extensive physical therapy just to walk. Fighting is out of the question. His career has been his life, and now that More...

If you can look past the fact that this book turned out to be a time travel / Sci Fi novel it was a wonderful book. I can understand why most of the fans that read the book took great exception to this particularlly since there was nothing on the cover warning of the fact it is a SciFi but they should blame the publishers for that one. Ms Foster has once again written a beautiful love story with great characters and a smooth More...

A lot of people have issues with the futuristic part. That got to me a bit too. Not that it took place in the future, but that all the other stories are firmly entrenched in reality and then in book 4 it flips around. It just felt awkward. My biggest issue is that when Mallet was first introduced in a previous story, he came across as a bumbling idiot. Then, all of a sudden he's a nice guy, but you're still not 100% on his intelligence level. Now, he's okay. What changed? There was no explanatio More...

Okay, i'm still reading this book but c'mon...It's weird that she shifts gears this much within her series. I mean, I absolutely love the paranormal..look at my collection. I feel like it's kind of misplaced. She added that extra bit about Jamie in her last series, but it was gradual and integrated into it. I'm sure I'll revise this when i finish but it's a tad bit off-putting.

So, I'm done reading it and it was really good...I still stand by my original thought. These are abou More...

I have had yet to read a Lori Foster book that I didn't just love, but that was until I read this one. It isn't that it is badly written, because it is written well and is a sweet story. My only real issue was the lack of continuity from the previous books. I kept thinking through the whole book that he was going to wake up and it was all just a dream. It was just so very unexpected for being the 4th book in a contemporary romance series that I was so excited to read. Despite being thrown for a More...

An appalling bit of trash. I like the SBC Fighter series. What was this? First, not an SBC book. Second, BAD, BAD, BAD, science fiction. It's plain that Ms. Foster has never read any good sci fi if she's read any sci fi at all. If there was a stupid sci fi cliche that she didn't use, I sure couldn't tell. Thank goodness I rented and didn't buy the damn thing. I'm not going to go into detail. If you really want to know my opinion, check out the most helpful negative revie More...

I was so excited to read this book as I'm a HUGE fan of the SBC Fighters series. While I did like the book, it was a departure from the other SBC books that I didn't really like it as part of the series.

Since I love Lori Foster, I would probably have read it as a stand alone book, but I think it should have been the last book in the SBC series and used as a "spin off" into another series using the futuristic world/time travel stuff. I just didn't feel all that fit in th More...

I have loved this series so far and I was a little thrown at the whol time travelling idea with this book. I was looking forward to Mallet's story and I wasn't quite sure this was a good story line. I had to read it though. I was pleasantly surprised that this worked. It still had Mallet being his usual obnoxious but charming self, tough and determined. Then he meets Kaylie, and just like all the other men, falls prey to her charms...just in a differnt time and place. Either way, she made More...

Lori Foster is starting to grow on me. I've only read 2 books so far by her which I have a feeling haven't been her greatest work. I am beginning to like her writing style. Okay, okay, her sex scenes are a little more graphic than your average contemporary romance author too. I am not going to deny this fact that compels me to read her books.

I liked "My Man Michael". She takes her SBC Fighters series to a whole different world...literally. It was entertaining and fun. More...
