Was given this book for Christmas when I was 12 and I loved it. I still have the book I was given and some of the poems are a little less funny...this is nonsense verse for children after all. So some of my high rating may also be because this little book of verse means a lot to me as an expression of my fond memories. Nonsense poems and humorous writing have had a special place in my heart since, well, always. Spike Milligan is sometimes very good at this - the Glutton's Farewell and Ipple Tree are prime examples. Not all of them reach the same heights, tho, so overall rating is lower than would otherwise have been the case.
Terence Alan Patrick Seán Milligan, known as Spike, was a comedian, writer and musician.
