I found this book thought-provoking and helpful. Gary Thomas does a great job describing how God's grace fits into our parenting, showing that especially that when we fail our kids, God can use our failure to grow their trust in Him as their perfect father. I wished sometimes that Thomas would have used fewer illustrations and more content-laden theology, but that's not the kind of book it is.

Nice idea of reversing the thoughts about having kids: they are great teachers and impetus for spiritual growth, and are a legacy to leave behind. Still, this didn't seem enough to sustain the length. The rest was little more than a standard take on Christian ideology, which I didn't enjoy.

Amazing book that I know I'll need to re-read. It has prompted me to search out other books by the author.
As I finished the book, the idea that stuck out the most to me was that God has hand-picked my children for me to rear. He is entrusting me with these precious souls.

A parenting book that helps communicate how parenting changes our souls as parents. Like a long letter from an older, wiser, in perspective brother reassuring me as a mother, challenging me to dig deeper and be willing to be shaped by my children and their needs.

Troy and i are reading this book together at night before we go to bed. so far, we're really enjoying it and it's already challenging us to think about our parenting... and we're not even parents yet!

It really helped me understand that our children and their futures are not totally in our hands so we have to rely on God and let him lead. He willl teach us alot if we are open to him. Great read!

One of my favorite parenting books. Not a how to (though there are great points in there) but more of a what the Lord is doing as we parent. I've given it to several friends.
