My Review: In the small Maine town of Tinker's Cove, an old house was set on fire and an innocent woman, Monica died. While Lucy and Monica were not the closest of friends, Lucy's husband Bill helped Monica restore the old house. So Lucy and Bill were pretty upset. I have been sidetracked from my to-be read pile with the Lucy Stone murders. Quick and easy reads centered around a holiday or significant event during the year, Lucy is a very likeable character in an awesome Maine setting.

When I first picked this book up I didn't realize it was the 3rd book in a series, but it definitely served fine as a standalone. Although I probably would have known the characters a bit more going into it had I read the books in order, I didn't feel lost reading this one first. After reading this book though, I would like to get my hands on the first couple books in this series, but that's simply because sometimes i'm in the mood for a nice mystery novel to break up all my other reading.

I keep seeing the new titles in this series come out - I think she is up to 18 or 19 by now - so I am stepping back to the beginning. This is the third book in the series, and I started reading it around Halloween - just took me a little longer to get through than expected!

This is the 3rd book in the Lucy Stone series by Leslie Meier. This was pretty good but I will say "shame on you, Leslie Meier" for writing a scene where the protagonist, Lucy, who is a nursing mother is injured and ends up in the hospital. She is given perscription pain pills and goes home and nurses her baby daughter. Then it says that the baby is fast asleep. Well, duh. You just gave this child whatever pain medicine you took. I finished this one last week and I've already forgotten who was killed by whom and why. No, wait ... it's coming back to me ... there was serial arson involved... Postcard of a little town in ... I bought it knowing it was a cosy--which I don't usually read--because it is Halloween and the cover was appealing. It was a cosy, which says it all for me. Small towns with everyone knowing everyone. I have no problem with that--there is that other series that are cosies set in New England that I like--the main character is restoring an old house on an island. I believe this is my last Lucy Stone mystery. I just don't like the characters! Lucy is nosy, stupid, immature, has no self esteem and "no" doesn't seem to be in her vocabulary. Her husband is manic depressive and borders on abusive when in the depressive state. Her kids are sullen and whiney. The "mystery" is never really the focus of these books.

Entertaining, but not a good book. I know that statment is at odds with itself, but here me out. The supposed amateur detective Lucy Stone did not do very much detecting. The only reason she discovered the culprit was because he tried to kill her... twice! But I found the atempted murder odd because she really had no clue what was going on...none!
People really like this series, so I might try another one. I liked the setting, atmosphere and characters enough to give the series one more attempt....more

A quick read and the first book in the series that i've read. I usually like small town quirky series but this one was quite repetitive, especially regarding the main character and her baby. I thought if she wrote about her breastfeeding one more time, i'd scream! Not much of a mystery either in that our amateur sleuth didnt do much detecting and she did do that nosy woman bit that annoys me.
Will try the next one i've got and see if it gets any better.

This Lucy Stone mystery, set in Tinker Cove, Maine, revolves around a series of suspicious fires. Lucy, mother of 4, ages 11 to 6 weeks, asks questions and tries to figure out the source. I liked this character because, although she is inquisitive and is sometimes in the wrong place at the wrong time, she is not doing stupid things. Her relationships with other town characters are believable, her family life is not superficial and she is not superwoman.
OK, I can't even really speak to the story, which became obvious near the end, because I was so frustrated with the author that I could barely concentrate on it. Clearly the author is a LLL psycho who only wrote in the new baby to have the opportunity to preach about breast feeding every other paragraph. It distracted from the story, and I was really put off by the constant talk of tingly boobs, milk being let down, and lifting up one's shirt to give a snack. Enough already. We get it. I got this book because Halloween is my favorite holiday and since it's getting close to Halloween I wanted to read books that take place on Halloween. I've never read any of the other books in this series or anything by this author before. After reading this book I doubt I will. This book just couldn't keep my attention and was pretty boring.
This book was a little bit creepy. Halloween alone is creepy, add a crazy person setting fires all around town makes it even worse. Fires scare me. They can get out of hand a ruin everything. As usual, I had no idea who the fire starter was until Lucy figured it out. lol. I really suck at solving mysteries. Remind me to never become a dectective.
It was okay. I took away one star because I did not care to read about her breastfeeding multiple times throughout the book. I am all for breastfeeding but do not want to read about it or visualize someone else doing it while trying to read a mystery book. This is my first book by this author. I do plan to go back and read the first one and hopefully it will be better.

This book was okay. I like series that take place in small towns, but nothing jumped out to really make me want to keep reading more books in this series. Lucy Stone is okay as a main character, but it was kind of annoying that the author kept focusing on her breastfeeding. Weird, but maybe I just can't relate because I'm not a mom. Fun quick read. Lucy Stone, mother of 4, does amateur sleuthing in a small Maine town. This time a series of arsons takes place while Lucy is busy nursing her new baby, but not too busy for crime fighting! A fun book and you gotta love the small Maine town.
Halloween time for fun. Not so for Lucy Stone, she gets entangled in an arsonist's web as fires are ablaze in Tinkers Cove. She suspects so many and is frightened for her family since fires are on old houses. As usual she investigates....
I was looking for a book to read for Halloween and came across this one in the library. It's the first Lucy Stone mystery I read and after I read it I got the whole series off of Amazon:) These are great mysteries! I definitely recommend them.

Cute cozy mystery. One that doesn't have to be read in order. I like this series because the characters are nice but they aren't awesome though.
I'll say I didn't see who the arsonist was till it was revealed. Lots of red herrings in this one.

I was looking for a book to read for Halloween and came across this one in the library. It's the first Lucy Stone mystery I read and after I read it I got the whole series off of Amazon:) These are fun mysteries! I definitely recommend them.
Book #3. this was a fun and enjoyable read. Halloween time and lucy finds herself involved in yet another mystery. It also ahout a mom with a hrowing family and a husband who trying to cope with it all.real life mixed with a cozy mystery.

The character did not really sleuth ..just sort of stumbled onto the perpetrator. The hook or theme for this cozy was child rearing which did nothing for me. I had to force myself to finish.
Good mystery, I didn't know who did it until the very end. My only complaint was it spent a lot of time away from actually solving the crime.
