A hilarious retelling of THE THREE LITTLE PIGS, with foil on the cover!

"Little fish, little fish, let me come in."
"Not by the skin of my finny fin fin!"
"Then I'll munch, and I'll crunch, and I'll smash your house in!"

From our most recent Scholastic book purchase, The Three Little Fish and the Big Bad Shark by Ken Geist and illustrated by Julia Gorton is our favorite. The book is a cute spoof on the traditional three little pigs story with the pigs replaced by fish and the wolf by a shark.

As the kids are also fans of The Storybook Factory which also retells the story with some singing, we sing certain parts of the book to the same music as the LeapFrog video. Sean and Harriet enjoy singing the book so much th...more

This has to be my all-time favorite read-aloud for this summer's reading theme! I took this book along to my outreach visits to the preschools this year and had such a good time with the "three little pigs and the big bad wolf" concept but with fish and a shark instead. The kids were REALLY into the over-exaggeration of "then along came the BIG...BAD...SHARK!" The houses made of seaweed, sand and eventually a ship let the kids have an opportunity to say whether or not the fish made a wise choice...more

3.5 stars. This is a pretty standard retelling of The Three Little Pigs, but setting this tale in this undersea world opened up new doors of creativity for this story, and that made it fun to read. The kids and I liked the various homes that the little fish created in their undersea world, and the fate of the Big Bad Shark was also unexpected, and certainly funnier than the fate of the Big Bad Wolf. My nephew really enjoys variations of The Three Little Pigs, and the aquatic setting, coupled wit...more

Such a cute book!!! Great if you are doing a lesson along with the three little pigs, a great story that most kids like. This book was great because it was a different kind of story but it follows the same story line, instead of (by the hair of my chinny chin chin) it becomes (not my the skin of my finny fin fin)and of course they like that they know the lines!

preschool story time; narrative skills, phonological awareness, print motivation, vocabulary building;
This book is on the theme of the Three Little Pigs story. The shark ends up with no teeth, so no characters die in the story. It is a wonderful book for toddlers to preschool story times.

In this spoof of The three little pigs, Mama tells her three little fish that it's time to seek their fortunes. Jim builds a house of seaweed and Tim builds a house of sand, but it's up to Kim to find the house that will stop the big bad shark's munching and crunching.

This is a great book for storytime (ages 0-5). The different sizes in text allow for easy cues for voice volume. Although this is a different version of 'the big bad wolf and the three little pigs, the kids were too young to realize the connection

A funny fishy take on the three little pigs story. Yet another book that I can't help but do crazy voices while I read. My three-year-old son really likes this book. He picked it out at the scholastic book fair.

Oh so punny! "Don't worry.... We fish stick together." Bright - the cover of my library copy is even shiny. Highly recommended as a gift to a young family that needs to learn that books are cool.

The kids all worked on making stick puppets of this story and performed it today at our story library time. It is a really cute retelling of the old classic. Loved it!

This books has the same storyline as the Three Little Pigs. I used this book to contrast and compare characters with the Three Little Pigs.

Bought this for my little guy a few months back and he really loved it. Anything that keeps his attention gets 5 *s from me. Plus, it's way cute.

This version of the three little pigs is adorable and shiny. The boys love it, especially when the shark's teeth fall out at the end.

Always a favorite here with my 4yr old. Clever twist on three pigs and the big bad wolf - really fun story and colorful illustrations.

A nautical twist of the traditional Three Little Pigs Tale, this would make a great puppet show with some cute fish puppets!

VegasGal
This is a bold and colorful rendition of the classic Three Little Pigs tale set with fish as the main characters, instead of course, piggies. The illustrations bring a lot of whimsy to this well known adventure and will be especially enjoyed by fans of cute fish tales.
