This volume covers Rubens, Hals, Rembrandt and Vermeer. The reproductions are only okay, but the text is just what I needed. I particularly appreciated the background pieces on topics like commercial Amsterdam, and the Year in the Life sections on what was going on in Europe and the colonies during the 17th century were nicely done. Sometimes a potted history is just what you need.
