A quick read on the 1924-25 Black Plague epidemic in LA, and how it was buried in local media & history. A disturbing & compelling bit of local history, plus a good overview chapter on the biology & history of the plague. Author tries a little too hard to connect to modern politics, which can be occasionally jarring, makes the book likely to become dated quickly, and honestly: isn't necessary. (The conclusions draw themselves, IMHO.)
