These are a must read! I read the set to my 4 and 6 year old and they loved them! Our favorite was Mercy Watson Fights Crime! We could barely get through it we were giggling so much. I also introduced the set to my second graders who fell madly in love with these humorous books as well. They are perfect for transitional, independent readers. Kate DiCamillo has given us a jewel that will help hook future readers for years to come.

Love this book because it's fun to read with the kids, plus my six year old daughter will read them on her own! It's been tricky to find things that will motivate her to read on her own, but these books do the trick. Thanks Kate!

Simple charming characters...including a number of public servants who talk to themselves. A pig who loves hot buttered toast and who is a doted upon "porcine wonder". What could be better?
