If you like the spare, devastating prose of Juan Rulfo, these black-and-white photos taken by him in his travels around the country as a salesman for B.F. Goodrich during the '40s and '50s, capture the same feeling. Shadowed landscapes and evocative faces of a post-revolutionary Mexico that no longer exists.

Its difficult to asses what was better Rulfo at. Making photographs or writing stories. These are some of the best pictures on rural Mexico ever taken.

These photographs - taken between 1945 - 1955 are as amazing as his writing.
