Nothing Nice to Say
by
Mitch Clem
Punk-rock culture has a rich, longstanding tradition of anger, nihilism, and good old-fashioned suburban teenage angst, and no one is more headstrong and humorless about punk rock than the punks themselves. Enter Nothing Nice to Say. Mitch Clem's Nothing Nice to Say leaves no mohawked, leather-jacket-clad stone unturned in its mission to expose the awesomeness and the absu...more

I'm a sucker for the Descendents reference on the cover, so I had to buy and read this. All in all I found it pretty funny, a lot of the jokes are really inside jokes about punk, which made me feel like I'd taken a jump back ten years or so. I don't know if I find it comforting that for the most part the jokes are the same ones that were being made years ago, and that except for a couple of little comments like Lifetime and Kid Dynamite reforming almost all of the band references could have be...more
This is the compilation of Year 2 of Nothing Nice to Say, the punk webcomic by Mitch Clem.
I had been a fan of this comic, which you can still read 100% free at www.mitchclem.com, for a few years, so I was thrilled to hold this in my hands. It's the first NN2S book that's been published, but I still recommend it for newcomers. Mitch has compiled a great selection of strips and extras, as well as a funny introduction to the characters, and there is no ongoing storyline to be confused b...more

This is mostly hilarious, navigating the maze of punk rockdom with wit, geek cred, dumb jokes, politics, and a human sized hamster that looks like a bear. What's there to rebel against in Sweden anyway? Have you tried Lutefisk? It's revolting. Then so am I!
The subject matter is frequently delightfully obscure (loaded with references to the modern-day punk scene in, of all places, Minnesota), but is unfortunately more-than-moderately tempered with jokes aimed at a broader, general audience. Nothing Nice to Say has some exceptionally vibrant characters with genuinely funny points and assertations...

I dog eared 4 pages as funny enough to share with others.
I generally enjoyed the rest despite the topics focus being not one of major occupation in my life.
sentence 1 + sentence 2 = 3 stars.

this is going to be short because i need to leave for work, but this is a great webcomic that appeals to two of my favorite things -- punk rock and bad jokes.
this is, based on the fact that it doesn't have the earlier years of the strips, "volume 2" according to artist mitch clem, who states in the intro that there may or may not ever be a "volume 1" but that doesn't really hurt this collection.

Picked this up as I really like Mitch Clem's web comic and it was worth it. It's just a shame that the first many comics haven't been published in book form yet :(
Awesome web comic -> book, but I still dig his newer stuff better.
I like punk jokes. Mitch Clem is good at them, sometimes.
Mitch Clem is a punk rock hero.
Very funny, I want more of this.
'nothing nice to say' was my first introduction into web-comics. it was recommended to me by a friend on the internet because of my budding interest in punk rock back when i was still in high school. just a few year shy of a decade and i'm still riveted. i still love it with as much passion as i did when i was a teenager.
yet, i don't find this to be a collection of strips for the "old school" fan. it's as relevant today as it was originally and just as clever as all the we...more

Kinda generic.
The best-ever punk rock comic strip gets its long-awaited book release. Since they released vol 2 ahead of vol 1, many of the earlier, classic strips are left out. Still, Mitch Clem's insights into the contradictions and hypocrisies of punk rock culture are stunning, his characters are thoughtfully rendered, and his jokes are touch a really special spot.
This one will make you laugh so hard, you'll squirt PBR outta your nose.
