When I started Scream for me by Karen Rose, I didn’t know I was in for a nerve-racking, nail-biting read from start to finish. The fast paced storyline and interesting dialog kept me on the edge of my seat. I read through this book quickly without being able to put it down for long intervals of time, so I neglected things like walking the dog and much needed sleep…but it was well worth it because I HAD to see how it ended!

Alex Fallon’s life has been filled with sorrow and death. ...more

Oh, this is going to be difficult describing this book, because there are so many characters to keep straight, and so many twists and turns, that sometimes it was downright confusing! But if you can hang in there for about the first 100 pages, things start to make sense, everything falls into place and things get rolling, and by then this book was un-put-downable!

This is a story about disfunctional families, betrayal, guilt, and regrets. It seems that every character in this story ...more

First off...great book. Loved it. Secondly...damnit it! I don't want to wait almost a year for the continuation of the series!

Once I started reading Scream For Me I couldn't put it down. From the first page I was hooked on the story. It doesn't have the pulse-pounding, dark intensity and creepiness that Die For Me had, but the storyline is very engaging. I spent the whole book sorting through the details, trying to put the pieces together and figure out who did what and when an...more

Scream For Me was another great book by Karen Rose. There was plenty of suspense along with a satisfying romance. The suspense portion of the novel was complicated and involved more than one villain. I didn't feel that this novel was quite as graphic as some others by Rose, but it was just as intense. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline, and I am anxiously awaiting the release of the next book in the series.

Alex Fallon returns to her hometown, Dutton, Georgia, after a th...more

Daniel Vartanian has been unable to sleep for the past eleven years, ever since he found gruesome pictures in his brother Simon’s possession. Pictures his own father, a judge, burned after Simon’s death so they couldn’t affect his career. Pictures that resurfaces along with a very alive, and seriously bent on revenge, Simon a couple of weeks ago. Pictures now in Daniel’s possession after his brother’s death (yeah, he really is dead this time).

When a killer starts reenacting a thirtee...more

Disappointed. This is book #2 in what looks like a trilogy though the author doesn't have them set up that way on her website. You should read "Die for Me" first because the crimes overlap, characters come from there, and the villains in this one were all connected to Simon (villain from Die for Me). The way this one ended, tells me that the next will connect even further and will be about Savannah and Luke only going more into child porn/rape.

5 stars – Romantic Suspense

Scream For Me is another phenomenal read from the master of intense, chilling romantic suspense and creepy, sadistic villains, Karen Rose. This is the 8th book in her loosely connected series and the second part of a sub trilogy that began with Die For Me and continues with Kill For Me.

I highly recommend this, and all of her books for that matter, when you’re in the mood for a goosebumps inducing read that will also stir your emotions! Big 5...more

Special Agent Daniel Vartanian who you met in Die for me is searching for a killer copying a 13 year old murder. His search is going to bring him colliding with Alex Fallon who he falls for hard and they must both face their fears and past to catch the killer.

you will absolutely love this book. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

Another fast-paced read with a good balance of romance and suspense. Rose is about the only RS author on my radar that gives me the balance I like. Her romance is strong but the suspense/mystery is stronger yet the former is never overwhelmed.

Daniel is sexy without being over-the-top gorgeous - though I admit to a partiality for the latter - and is protective of Alex yet is never patronizing or smothering. He's quick to acknowledge any effort on her part to get a grip on herself in t...more

Scream For Me is a sequel to Die for Me where we were introduced to the Vartanian family. Simon, the murderer caught in the previous book, is now dead and his brother Daniel returns to the small town where they grew up. Also back in town is Alex Fallon, she left town when she was still a girl after her twin sister was murdered and her mother committed suicide and she now returns to look for her cousin who has gone missing.

As usual Rose's books are an interesting mix of s...more

This was book 2 in a series with Agent Daniel Vartanian, but it read well as a stand alone. The first book, Die For Me, I have on reserve at our library, so that should tell you that I really enjoyed this book!

Daniel Vartanian is a Special Agent with the GBI, Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He has just returned from a case which involved his parents and his brother (I have a sneaky suspicion that this is what Die For Me is about...) He isn't even home a day before ...more

GBI special agent Daniel Vartanian is still reeling from the deaths of his brother Simon, a well-known serial killer, and his parents, who died at the hands of Simon, when called back to his hometown to investigate the brutal murder of a young woman found in a ditch, wrapped in a blanket. This murder is similar to that of Alicia Tremaine 13 years earlier. Daniel is shocked when he meets Alicia’s identical twin sister, Alex Fallon, who approaches him for help finding her stepsister, Bailey Cright...more

If you’re interested in dysfunctional families then this is the romantic mystery for you. Alex Tremaine’s identical twin sister was found murdered several years ago and the crime remains an unsolved mystery. At the time of the murder, Alicia mother Kathy was so distraught over the death of her daughter that she committed suicide, apparently in front of daughter Alex. Alex was so traumatized by that experience that she attempted suicide as well but was unsuccessful and although suffering with a...more

This book falls into the genre of “romantic suspense.” It was interesting to realize that if you excised all the scenes involving "romantic" encounters between "ruggedly handsome" Daniel Vartanian and "beautiful, full-lipped" Alexandra “Alex” Fallon, you’d still have a pretty good suspense novel AND not really notice the difference.

Daniel Vartanian (of ruggedly handsome fame) is a Special Agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, called in to help ...more

Review for the Vartanian trilogy by Karen Rose: Die For Me, Scream For Me and Kill For Me.
Karen Rose creates my favorite type of novels, romantic suspense- and she does them well. Since I recently discovered her, I have been devouring every book that I could find.
Romance: I do love the heroes in Rose's books, and the relationships are always sexy and utterly romantic while still being realistic enough to enthrall the reader. The romance is the authors strong point.

I read this book following "Scream for me": I didn't like the first very much, and I liked this even less, pretty much for the same reasons:

-the characters are so unreal: the baddies are so bad and the goodies are so good that is just not right; I think the author has some personal issues that reflect in her books, because in both of them, the main male characters (policemen) are hot, sweet, considerate... just perfect!, and same with the main female: beautiful, smart... ever...more

Loved It! Full of suspense, action, a little romance. Daniel Vartanian just came back to work after the death of his parents. They were murdered by his serial killer brother Simon, who is now dead. The first day back a woman is found in a ditch wrapped in a brown camping blanket. This appears to be a copycat of a murder from 13 years ago. The killer from the old murder is still in jail. Meanwhile, Alex Fallon is called by a social worker in Georgia regarding her niece, Hope. Hope was fou...more

WOW, Karen Rose has created a sickly twisted plot so engrossing that I found it very difficult to put this book down. She blends and weaves the elements of suspense and terror so well that I had to remind myself that the killer was fictional, and I am not in the story! Her brilliant characterization of Daniel, Alex and the various other people kept the book realistic. Though Daniel and Alex have both lived through terrible events in their lives, and now, while they are faced with even more ...more

A psychological thriller which isn't as graphic as it could have been. However: A note to the squeamish...teenagers are being raped and murdered and elements of child pornography are present.

FBI agent Danial Vartanian gets assigned to investigate the serial killer/rapist working in smalltown Dutton, GA. Daniel has one large problem with this case...his brother Simon, was killed just two weeks prior. Simon was a serial killer also targeting the town of Dutton. Alex Fallon, twin si...more

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't scream for this one......, September 28, 2008

This review is from: Scream for Me (Hardcover)

The plot was o.k. but the story went on far too long and was extremely convoluted and involved way too many characters. Also way too many deaths. As the body count ratcheted up, I was left with wondering exactly what the motivation was for Mack to be doing this and it really wasn't ever fully explained. All the players were eliminated and I really don't s...more

Don't be fooled by the picture on the cover. This book is a thriller, and a pretty decent one at that.

I haven't read any of the other books in this series yet. I found this book at Dollar Tree and decided to give it a shot. It was well worth my dollar. Not quite at the level of Dan Brown or Steve Berry, but I plan to read more of Karen Rose's books for sure.

While there is a bit of romance thrown in, this story is predominantly just creepy. Rose does a fine job of obscurin...more

This is the first Karen Rose book I've read and I wasn't aware that this was part of a series until after I'd started reading it. I'm not too anal in that respect...if I was, I'd never get any books read as my library never as enough copies of anything, or doesn't even complete a series it starts.

The book was a little choppy in the beginning but developed a good rhythym quickly. Daniel Vartanian is a Special Agent and Alex Fallon is a surviving twin. Both are pulled into the night...more

Wow! This was my first read by Karen Rose, and as soon as I finished, I went searching my shelves and boxes for more. (I freecycle exchange a lot of books)

Sadly, there are no more for now, but I am really looking forward to reading more. I do love a good thriller when I can't figure out who the bad guy is, and in this one I only guessed right on one. There was so much going on in this book that it kept me engaged the whole time, and I could totally translate it all into a kick-ass m...more

This is the sequel to Die for Me and after getting into this book the previous book came back to my weak and feeble brain. Lucky me- I just checked out the last book in the trilogy from the library so before my brain goes into those lapses I can finish this series. This book has a lot of characters, plots, twists and turns, surprises, and it all comes together for a 'can't put down' book. With over 500 pages, however, I did have to put it down to work, eat, and sleep-- and oh yeah, watch the ...more

This book was amazing to me. These are not the type of book's I usually read as a matter of fact they are the total opposite. I find myself drawn into the complicated stories. There are twists and turns that keep you wanting to know what is gonna happen next. Really Bad bad guy's and really Good good guy's. If you don't like violence in your story's then these book's are not for you.The feeling I got just now when I finished this book was WOW! I thought Die For Me was fantastic but Scream For Me...more

I enjoyed the romance side of this romantic suspense book, despite the fact that it came on very suddenly, but the suspense side was way too complicated for me. There seemed to be about 14 different villains supporting 5 separate evil plots. I couldn’t keep track of who was doing what, and at the end there was a big villain reveal that fell completely flat, because I had no idea who the character was in the story.

On the plus side, it was less graphically gruesome than Rose usually is...more

This is my second Karen Rose novel, and I began listening to it with some resignation because although I found the first one I read okay, it was a little trite and pedestrian. After a bit of a slow start, this one really began to surprised me with excellent portrayals of the horror and violation of rape, kidnapping and murder. Initially the romantic piece was predictable, but as Ms. Rose warmed to her story, the romance became sizzling and romantic as hell. Kudos!

When Agent Daniel Vartanian finds depraved pictures of teenagers boys raping girls that his brother had taken, he vows to find the young men in the pictures and bring them to justice. Along the way he meets Alex, a woman looking for her stepsister who has disappeared into thin air. Then women start getting murdered and together they plan to get to the bottom of what's happening to the women of Dutton.

Another great installment from Karen Rose, I'm really enjoying the series about the ...more

Tautly plotted murder, mystery and romance in small town Georgia.

Thirteen years ago, Alex Tremaine’s aunt took her from Dutton, Georgia in the wake of her sister Alicia’s rape and murder, her mother’s suicide and her own suicide attempt, adopted her and helped her build a new life. The past comes back in full force when Alex receives a call that her stepsister, Bailey, is missing and has left her daughter, Hope, alone. I love this book. It took me two reads but after the second one, when I finally had everyone sorted in my head, I fell in love with this book.

However, the only reason I was willing to even try for the second read is because of how much I love Karen Rose. Absolutely and unreservedly. For me, on a scale of intensity with Elizabeth Lowell at 10 and Julie Garwood at 1, Karen Rose ia an 8/9. She's not as intense but she writes characters and stories you fall in love with.
