A helpful book whether you want to apply for a job or leave a clear and concise message on an answering machine! The author had a career with the television world and could understand well the value of time and how to make your point brief and powerful. This was an old book on my husband's shelf so I'll say it appeared there were a few expletives (now that's an irony of not choosing your words best with 30 seconds), so beware of that.

A step-by step guide to improving your communications skills by using a 30-second message. We often gab for minutes or hours to present our message. We should be able to get your point across within 30 seconds. The technique has three main steps: identify your objective, know your listener and find the right approach.
Mark Terry
A colleague once said, "I can give you twenty pages by tomorrow night. One page will take at least a month." This book would agree and points out the fairly obvious approach to this laudable goal: Know your objective, know your approach and know your audience. While I found it helpful, there wasn't a lot of meat on the bones here.

This short paperback is a great way to kill an hour or two. We're talking about presentation 101, stuff that everyone should be aware of, from CEO to the mail-room guy.

We're not talking rocket science here, rather just straight forward how to deliver a clear and concise message. People don't want to give you their time if you're going to futz around. Instead, you should deliver your message concisely.

So many people could benefit from meditating on the ideas discussed in this ...more

I read this book when I was 9 and lost interest. I wanted the author to get to the point already. Point taken. Then again, I was nine...

This book was fine, probably more helpful for people with very little public speaking or paper writing experience. The points he makes are really quite basic: know your audience, know what point you want to get across, prepare, and always keep in mind that people's attention spans are very short so you need to make the best of your time.

One of my top favorite books, this book really shows you how to communicate better and get your point across in no time.

I read the book 4 times, and it will not take more than 2 hours of carefully reading

Must have and read

Well I need help with this obviously but the book didn't help much. Ahhh! Teaching two classes in the fall and I talk like I'm drunk permanently.
