I don't even like pork, but when they eat the pork, ham, egg and cheese sandwiches I always want one! How is the five almost always end up eating the most delicious sounding food, and drink the best sounding drinks? Orange and ginger beer, yummy!

Now, through a series of mistakes, Dick ends up sleeping in a barn believing George and Julian will be along soon and that this is the farmhouse they agreed to spend the night at. He is mistakenly given a message from an escaped prisoner- the directions

After a really intense and dark previous adventure, the Five return for an adventure that seems to be a little less dangerous, though of course we still have the rather nasty and vicious bad guys. This time Blyton has sent the Five on a hike during a long weekend over the moorlands, though they discover that there is a prison that has been built nearby. On the first day of their hike, Timmy injures himself, so they decide to split up, with George and Julian going off to find a vet while Dick an ...more

I grew up with Enid Blyton books but I cannot grow out of them. Deciding to end the year with a book, Enid Blyton’s Famous Five beckoned to me. “Five on a Hike Together” is a tale of yet another adventure that the five walk into. With a surprising long weekend Julian and Dick plan a hiking trip with George, Anne and the gallant Timmy. It starts off with sandwiches and good village folk but the plans are thwarted with Timmy hurting his leg and paves way for a sudden adventure. With nasty folks on ...more

Kids of today certainaly do read The Famous Five. My 7 y.o. and I are reading our way through the series. This one is one of his favourites thus far. The five go on a hike, but get thrown into adventure when Dick and George get lost one night, and Dick receives a mysterious message whispered into the barn where he is sleeping. They go in search of hidden treasure, is it giving anything anyway to say that they find it? I don't think so. They always find it. Once again they have some interesting m ...more

A very good addition to the series with a real mystery to unravel.

As with all Famous Five books, this is of the same trusted and successful formula.

I loved these books as a child and I am delighted that my girls loved them as children too.

The stories are adventures of a byegone age, yet still hold the attention of children, around the world...... they have stood the test of time well - and for a great reason.

The stories are plausible, fun, adventurous and contain an excellent mix of young characters... with a little bit of everyone in each of them - something

I loved the Famous Five books when I was a kid. I don't recall much about most of them anymore - though I do recall quite a bit about this one. The Five are on holiday (again!) and they chance upon a mysterious and puzzling message. It turns out to be a cryptic message and their adventure revolves around solving it and finding out the who and why of the message.

I'd recommend this series for kids who love adventure stories coupled with mystery and detective elements. It's like a younger version o

Kisahnya lumayan menarik.... tentang 5 sekawan yang berkelana dan sedang melancong dan tidak sengaja menemukan clue yang membawa mereka pada harta karun yang disembunyikan oleh kawanan penjahat.

One of the better Five books. The McGuffin in this one is at the bottom of a lake and they have to keep certain landmarks in view in order to determine its position as they float about on a raft. Question. How come they all have pockets bulging with suitably buoyant objects in order to mark the spot? Such foresight. I think this one has an escaped prisoner on the loose to frighten them as well.

It was just like the other Famous Five books, exciting and adventurous. The best part was when the five were searching for Saucy Jane and Mary and Dirty Dick were creating a trouble to do so. Julian was really brave to dive in the cold water of Gloomy Water. Overall, it was a good book and my favourite too. Hat's off to Enid Blyton. I would like to give this book 4 stars****.

These books (Famous five) are hands down one of my favorite books from my childhood. All those adventures and mystery …and those sandwiches they always packed! aww, just the best! I would love to read one of these again. To bring back those memories..memories of first experiences with reading books.

ANother adventure faced by Famous Five, this time with clue of hidden treasure been thrown to Dick by mistake. Being true to their nature, 5 of them embarked on another great adventure together, to find the precious treasure.

I guess my first book ever... (not this edition, though... I mean not the one with this cover)

Amazing book - full of adventure and mystery. 'Unputdownable'...

P.S. Don't remember the case/story, though... :P

Jess, my 7-year old little girl, comments:

"I don't really like this one that much because the Famous Five doesn't get to defeat the bad guys. They're just walking around trying to find the stolen things."

I read these books when I was ten years old or so. They tell me that Enid Blyton was racist. I didn't get the feeling when I read the books.. Perhaps I was too young to see it.
