This Little Critter book is about a baby critter who wants to do something special for his mom. After many attempts such as mopping the floor, putting the dishes away, carrying the groceries and mowing the lawn he feels like he doesn’t succeed. At the end he gives his mom a hug and kiss which is the only thing she really wanted! This is a very sweet story about a very loving and very patient mom. She knows that her
little critter is doing his best, so she tries to just feel the love. She has to try really hard
sometimes, because she knows that he was just trying to take a bubble bath, not bury the house!

Mercer Mayer's books are great for kids of all messages; they are great "first readers" - I learned to read from his books. Each story is easy to follow along, and presents a "be-attitude" type of message that isn't preachy and isn't sappy.

i love the Mayer books. i've read them all to my son when he was growing up. I've actually bought a couple now that he is off to college and used them a birthday cards .... just little ways to let your kids know you still love them and think about them. He said when he got it in the mail it made him smile and he actually read it. I ca't wait to start reading them again when i have grandchildren! excellent excellent books!!!
I could put all Mercer Mayer books on my list. I used to read them to my little brother and went on to read them to my kids. There isn't a bad one in the bunch. Lots to choose from including new babies, potty training, grandparents, mom, dad, etc. Great insights in few words with amazing illustrations. Aren't they all "little monsters"?
Mercer Mayer has a variety of great books, like this one. These books always have a lesson that can be learned. This is a good book to read before Mother's Day. It has repeating words like "Just for You." I think it would give students ideas on how to surprise their Mother/guardian with love. Instead of feeling the only way to show them love is to do many chores that end badly.
Fun Little Critter book that is not specifically for Mother's Day, but is very appropriate for the occasion. It's a fun little story and it tells about how many good intentions children have, even if things don't work out the way they planned. We've enjoyed the stories in this series.
Hands down one of the greatest books ever written for children and for parents as well. A treasure. There is rarely a children's author who tugggggs at the heartstrings of mom and dad and child while all enjoying the work. Like A.A. Milne did so long ago, Mayer holds to this rare phenom.
This book has repeating words "Just for you", and it would just melt a mother's heart. There are many paragraphs that students can tell about what are things that he tried to do right, and what happened after it (kind of done it wrong). This is really cute story book.
I LOVE the Little Critter books. They are cute for children, but are interesting for adults to read because they relate to the situations that Little Critter creates. They are all sweet. Pictures are darling. I love almost all of this series!
Bad message.
I'm not sure what type of small animal this is supposed to be. "Just For You" is this little unknown animal's feeble and weak-willed dialog about the things he wanted to to do "just for" his mommy. But he fails because he gets caught up goofing off and watching television. It's silly. We read it a few times in Palm Desert but it's back at the library and won't be missed.

Classic Mercer Mayer, and great fun to read with kids, most of whom had tried one or more of the things Little Critter tries in effort to "help." Adults can't help but smile knowingly when they read this one.
Adorable book. Nice to give to someone you love. I got this for my step-daughters to give to my husband when they were little & they loved reading it with him. He still has it.

At day's end, he does something special -- hugs his mom.

Very cute story with wonderful artwork. We enjoyed finding the cricket and spider on every page. Easy enough for a Kindergartener to read with a little help from an adult.
My name sake while growing up! I had the book and the audio tape. Brings back such wonderful memories!

Can I say we love Mercer Mayer in the old days? Before they commercialized him and turned Little Critter into a politically correct tool? Love this one.
I love all the Mercer Mayer books. Great teaching tools for little kids. I read them all to my children when they were young.
This book is great because kids can relate to it! Fun family book or just a book to read for fun! Great for all ages.
My mom read this to me in the mid to late 1970s. It was a favorite then, and now I read it to my son. Love it!

Little Critter tries to do special things for his mommy with humorous results. Full of love.
Little Critter is one of the most lovable characters in children's fiction.
The whole series of little critter books is full of clever stories.
He tried to do everything right, but he kind of done it wrong.
My 3-year-old son loves these little critter books!
