Gregor and the Curse of the Warmbloods is yet another sequal of Susan Collin's very fictional book, Gregor the Overlander.

This time Gregor's mother insists that she must come along with Gregor and his sister, Boots to the Underland, just to see what the Underlanders want. It turns out, they were in for a long stay.

Gregor's mom is diagnosed with a plague spreading around in the Underland and Gregor, Boots, some old friends, and some new friends are sent on a quest to find the cure (yet ...more

After he dissapears into The Underland a second time, Gregor's mom refuses to let him visit or communicate with The Underlanders. Unfortunately, when a deadly plague begins to attack the Warmbloods belowground, Gregor is (literally) forced to return to The Underland with his mother and sister, Boots, in tow. Gregor, Temp, Boots, and Ripred journey to an ancient jungle in search of the cure before time runs out.

This book is a bit different than the others. Due to the events in book 2 (The Pro...more

In the third Underland book, Gregor is once more embroiled in the Underland world despite his best efforts. Like the first two books, Gregor and his sister Boots must go on a quest with a rag-tag band. Once again the fate of the Underland rests firmly on his shoulders.

Sound formulaic? Repetitive? Somehow, Collins manages to weave an engaging and compelling story without it feeling like either of those. I was reluctant to read this one, afraid it'd become a cookie cutter series, however it r...more

I'm still diggin' this series so much. The only issue I had with this one is the end when you discover the big secret of the prophecy, it felt like it resolved itself too quickly. I wanted to see more on the after-effects.

There was also a real nice scene where Gregor grooms one of the rats and then himself. It was very sweet and genuine and everyone in the group seemed taken by it one way or another. I kept expecting a reference to this scene, or some sort of explanation as to the significa...more

I love the way each volume in this series follows a formula, and yet the individual novels do not seem formulaic. Once again Gregor must go to the Underland and go on a quest; once again, they struggle to understand a prophecy that shapes a journey on which they meet various new Underland creatures. In this quest to find a cure for a plague, Gregor must be even more self-sufficient: most of the Underlanders who shielded and guided him on earlier expeditions are not present. This makes the pl...more

I really like this series. I read the first one (Gregor the Overlander)for my children's lit class for the science fiction/fantasy section and I now have gone back and read the continuing saga of this 11 year old boy who is labeled in the underland world as a warrior. As much as he doesn't want to return to the underland--he keeps ending up back there.

A plague is killing warm blooded creatures in the Underland. Humans, bats, rats and mice are in need of Gregor's and Boots' help to find a cure. Their Mom doesn't want them going again, but agrees to one night if she goes with them. Mom gets infected and has to stay in quarantine while Gregor and Boots go to find a cure. Fabulous book.

Fantastic! I love a young adult author who isn't afraid of going over their audiences heads or scaring the shit out of them: that's how they learn! This book does both with style. I'm surprised these books aren't read more widely. Highly imaginative, unique, daring, enrapturing. I'm already plowing through the next.

Amazingly, this series continues to be just as strong as the book that kicked it off. The characters become richer, the world more fully imagined, and this time Collins' young protagonist deals with bioethics. The best thing about this series is how subtly important ideas are woven into the great adventure story.

Another excellent entry in the series, with Gregor needed to help stop a plague from ravaging humans, bats and rats alike. but oh no, his mother's come to the Underland with him, and she's got the disease too! These are too much fun. I want my own giant bat to ride around on...

It was interesting being able to talk about biological warfare with my 8 year old son as we were reading this. We also had a great discussion about scientists' ethics, which was very valuable, especially since he wants to be a scientist at the moment.

I don't know how I feel about mom's role in this novel. I guess I wanted to see more of her character, but I agree with Gregor's feelings that it is his world. I just can't get enough of this series!

This is the 3rd book in the series. Its mostly about this terrible disease that occurs in the underland. The people the disease affected are still dealing with it in the 5th book.

This was a good, wholesome book. I liked the way Suzanne Collins introduced new characters, but it was a little bit creepy at the end and a little bit sad.

Yay Gregor. They're starting to blend together a bit, which is unfortunate, but it's still a really good series for what it is.
