Nun. Scheinbar mögen mich die Gottheiten nicht. Vielleicht war es auch nur Schicksal, denn obwohl i More...

Sunshine "Sunny" McDonald was doing pretty well; the hottest guy at Oakridge High School, Jake Wilder, has asked her to go to the prom with him, and life is now complete. At five foot four, with dirty blond hair and unimpressive muddy brown eyes, Sunny would have sworn that Jake didn't even know she existed. Freckles notwithstanding, she's not as easily recognizable as her twin sister, Rayne, who's so into the Goth scene, vampires, and wea More...

All Sunny McDonald wants is to get through high school, get good grades, and get Sex God Jake Wilder to notice her. But when she reluctantly accompanies her identical twin sister Rayne to a Goth nightclub, Sunny gets more than she bargained for. Because Rayne has been studying to become a vampire, and her vampire mentor just bit Sunny instead. Now, Sunny’s on her way to eternal life. Fortunately, there’s a cure, if she can get to it in time. Unfortunately, the cure is the Holy Grail. Yes, More...

What I Loved: This was a fun quick read that sort of reminded me of a Buffy The Vampire Slayer episode--except no real slayage unless you count Bertha! Magnus is the perfect guy for Sunny even though he is a vampire and their quipping is fun to read. I giggled more than a few times during this book.

What I Liked: Rayne--though she was not in the book enough for me probably because I liked her more than Sunny. The blog entry at the end has me thinking the next book is about her thoug More...

I enjoyed this book all the way through until the end. Then I was disappointed. I liked Sunny and couldn't stand her sister Rayne. Rayne seemed unsympathetic about the plight Sunny found herself in. I guess it would be hard to feel sorry for Sunny when Sunny had what Rayne wanted more than anything. But she had to feel her sister's panic and pain. Rayne was more interested in how bad the vampire was feeling. Some parts were absurd like the overweight vampire slayer. I get that it was to be radic More...

Rayne and Sunshine McDonald, 16, may be physically identical, but the similarities stop there. Rayne has been covertly studying to become a vampire, and her moment of love-at-first-bite has arrived. Unfortunately, her decidedly nonvampiric twin is at the receiving end of that kiss of death. Now Sunny has just one week to un-bloodmate herself from the newly appointed King of the Coven, Magnus, and return to human form before her dream date to the senior prom. Though filled with teen and supernatu More...

Wow. This book rocks! I got hooked starting from the first few chapters and I just couldn't stop reading! It's amazing how a book can affect me like this. Sunny and Rayne are twins, but that's where the similarity ends. Their personalities are oh-so-different, and their dreams in life contrast greatly. Sunny's wish is much like a normal person: get into a good college, get married and have children. While Rayne's sole ambition is to be a blood-sucking creature of the night.

When Sunny i More...

If you expect a book type Twilight or Evernight I recommend you don’t read this book. Even if it posses all the elements of the books that I mention above the one thing that BTB doesn’t possess isthe element of love as Bella & Edward or Bianca & Lucas unconditional and irrevocably love I think that Mancusi main job of was to write a fun book, with a whole bunch of hilarious characters, with the vampires legends and folklore and of course a fun and light romance.

This is not my cup of tea. The writing is too juvenile for me to be interested. The protagonist is bitten and will soon transform into a full fledge vampire. How does she act ... silly, non-chalant, cracking jokes and just being lame. It's completely non-realistic. The cover is misleading. It's pretty and on the serious side. I thought I was getting a deep well thought out story line. Far from it.

This was silly, and not in a fun way. The author tried to hard to be funny. It ended up More...

My thoughts...I am a sucker for YA vampire novels and this one was no exception. This book's original story plot contained a case of mistaken identity. As the story progressed with the characters searching for a cure to the vampirism virus, I found myself drawn into the story until the end. It did not end the way I expected either. The book traveled to several locations and I felt Mari did a great job of describing the settings. Some of the scenes were witty and I enjoyed the banter between More...

My trustworthy Canadian friend who heads up the YA section at her local Chapters recommended this series to me for one reason - the Lost Boys reference in, I believe, it's the second book (Ok, I told you people I had a problem, didn't I? A loooooooong time ago.). And because we have really similar tastes in reading material so I pretty much take her recommendations to heart since we're pretty much the same person in that regard. I figured I'd read the entire series since I didn't want to start i More...

As far as young adult novels go, this one lacked all the teenage drama and angst that most do. Very little action happened while Sunny, our narrator, was pumping us information about her, her family and life, and what she learned over the course of the novel. I liked that the plot was so simple. There was no world that needed to be saved except for Sunny’s (own little high school world). Although I found it awkward at BEST that a hundreds (maybe thousands) of years old vampire fell in love with More...

It about a twin sister, Sunny & Rayne whose might be looks identical but have different personalities. The whole book is a story more about Sunny who being mistakenly bitten by a hottie vampire, Magnus. So, she is freak out and never thought that the whole vampire things is actually meant for her twin sister's. Magnus is meant to bite her twin sister (Rayne) but of such mistake, it's happened to her.

Although Sunshine McDonald and her sister Rayne are identical twins, their personalities and interests couldn't be more different. It's only under protest that Sunny agrees to accompany Rayne to Club Fang, a goth club. Sunny is more field hockey and drama club than black vinyl and pierced tongues, so Club Fang is not her thing. So what do I think about Boys That Bite well in my opinion I guess it’s an ok book if you have the time to laugh a bit then you should totally read it plus it’s not a long book it’ll take u about three hours or even less to finish it, but I’m telling you this book is worth your time it has a lot of really fun stuff, some lines are just hilarious you just can’t stop laughing. Boys That Bite sounds interesting. The synopsis is enough that you
think you're going to get a pretty good book.
I, personally, found this to be the suckiest vampire book (pun
intended).

I was the victim of falling for a pretty cover and in the course of
falling, my brain was turned to mush. No, really, I'm not kidding.

Sunny is the most annoying character in the history of annoying
characters. She's interested in Jake Wilder, the guy who's super

The tagline for this book is "This is not your typical boybites-girl love story." I don't think I really agree with that. Of course I understand that Sunshine was not the sister who wanted to be turned into a vampire. but yet all the typical YA vampire plot events still occured. Sunshine still had to avoid the sun (no pun intended), slept during the day and was awake at night, and of course craved blood.

I've been slowing down on my reading since a friend of mine and I have a bet that I should read 150 books this year and since she will treat me once I did and we are pretty busy these days I decided that I'll give her time to ready her money for the treat. *grins*

What do you get when you throw together a pair of distinctly different twin sisters, a tubby, pimple-faced vampire slayer, an Orlando Bloom look-alike with fangs, and a gaggle of money-grubbing Druid monks? A refreshingly unique teen vampire series that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Unlike her vampire-obsessed sister, Sunny McDonald would rather play field hockey and make moony eyes at the high school jock than hang out in graveyards and Goth clubs. Her averageness vanishes, howe More...

What I liked....I enjoyed that it was a simple, easy read, that quickly got your attention. It's a page turner and will leave readers wanting more by the end of the book. Mari Mancusi brings out the old vampire myths in a new way, that will definitely have you laughing. The humor kind of reminded me of the, Vampire Kisses Series by Ellen Schreiber. Boys That Bite is the 1st book in the Blood Coven Vampire novels by Mari Mancusi. It is written from (Sunshine McDonald) Sunny's view point. Sunny and her identical twin sister Rayne are 16 year old students at Oakridge High School. I really thought I’d like this book. It’s a YA vampire story written in a fast and fun tone of voice. But in the end I found the heroine more annoying that enchanting. I’m told she’s ‘innocent’ (as in sweet and innocent) – a hockey player, drama club understudy who becomes incoherent when faced with the boy she likes. But her voice in my head is snotty and drowning in all the clichéd elements of a teenage life. The voice just doesn’t match the person and I end up disliking the heroine becau More...
