Aw, this is tremendous. As usual with Tony Millionaire, the art is absolutely out of this world, something like Winsor McKay, something like R. Crumb, something like nothing else but Tony Millionaire. I don't know who does the color work in this; I don't think it's Millionaire, since he normally has colorists work on his other Sock Monkey stuff, but whoever it is is a genius.

Millionare's draftsmanship is, as always, brilliant. Its sort of shocking how easily the drunken, violent world of Mr. Crow and Sock Monkey translates to an innocent children's books, though I suppose that "irresponsible" and "innocent" are flip-sides of the same coin. That said, the work is merely cute, as dampening Millionare's acerbic witt to get a book that could be read to a child without scarring them for life deprives the book of much of why I love his comics in the ...more
Too children's booky. I mean. There are children's books that have a strong, simple message that can be appreciated by everyone. But this was about a sock monkey and a glass doorknob.

I honestly don't know what to think of this book. As far as I can tell it's a book about nothing. But the pictures were nice.
