It took me a few tries to make myself lie still and get into the tone, but I was sweetly rewarded once I did! There is a simple musicality that carries throughout this chapbook. The poems don't try too hard, and this is (for the most part) to the author's advantage. The personality in these poems is immense, in a mouse-that-roared kind of way, and the scenes are often like the tiny, laden moments of my favorite black and white films- Jules et Jim being the most immediate example.
