Amazing overview of the American Labor Movement. Written by a women's study prof who does a great job of taking into account gender and race when it comes to the history of the organized labor movement.

It's accessible too--not heady, boring, and academic for the sake of being esoteric.

It was fairly even handed, but it got less so as it got closer to the present day, ie it was pointedly anti-NAFTA. Though I suppose it's not all that hard to be anti slavery, what with the fact that the entire world has decided that that was wrong.

This is a really thorough account of labor in the United States. Really good so far.
