Profits a lot from the idea of the kid who is recording what every other person says, so all you get to know about them is through his lens. But beyond this funny idea there is a wild collection of more or less unrelated stories. Midway thru the book I started not to care any more. I kept reading. Reminded me of Amos Oz' "Tales of Love and Darkness", which I liked much better. The end is ahem, let's say an awkward attempt to rescue the whole collection with a coup de theatre.
