While this book is somewhat dated (1995), it does give an excellent survey of cosmology and astrophysics up to that date. A lot has happened since then, but seeing as how Scientific American decided to quit on this great series of books, I don't imagine that there will be an update from the, but Joseph Silk has published numerous scholarly works and two popular books that update the topics covered in this book (The Infinite Cosmos, Oxford University Press, 2006, ISBN 978-0-19-953361-9 and On the ...more
