This book was a good reminder (for me) about the earlier war between the Russians and Afghanistan.....and how we helped arm the Afghans.....and how hindsight is 20/20....ugh. Hard to believe there is anything left of the country and the people after so many decades of war.....we don't have a clue what it's like......we just sit back at the dinner table and watch it all on TV....it's something that happens 'over there'......sickening indeed that all the negative energy can't be used for something ...more

Great read. You feel as if you are there with him sharing those experiences. Educational but in an entertaining way.

Loved the contrasts going between poor slum town London and Kabul. To the high life and back down again.

Need to read his first book now!
