The message seems to be "don't do bad things just because you're bullied," and yeah, that's a valuable message, but please, the reasoning provided here is "it's dishonorable" and the solution here is akin to "just say no." Could have just been a filler story, but it ends up a limp, empty shrug of an attempt at a moral treatise with not even a nod to the complexities of reality.

Zzz...

World: Art is okay, nothing special and does it's job. The world building is okay with more links to the past just like the last arc. I like little nuggets of the past but this arc and the last arc changes things too much which I don't enjoy.

Story: Zzz. Clichéd and bland. Other than what's happening with Peter and Co. everything else is just not that interesting. Charlie as a villain and call to the past was fairly uninspired and ended as we expected. Zzz.

Characters: Peter and MJ are sti

As much as I enjoyed the maxi-arc involving Ezekiel and the spiritual spider-powers, it suffered from something I can't put my finger on (lame villains perhaps?) , but as Romita Jr (who's art I don't care for) left the book, that arc ended and Straczynski's run gets even better. Once again the great Mike Deodato takes on penciling chores, this time with the help of Mark Brooks, whom I'm not sure I'm familiar with. The art switches between two styles, Deadoto for the present day, and Brooks for f ...more

This helped wash the bad taste of the last volume out of my mouth, but it still wasn't as good as the early volumes. I was in to the the totem concept and all of the mystical stuff. I miss that. This was alright, but I always hate when writers invent a character then pretend he's always been around.

The plot was pretty typical: one of Peter Parker's friends turns into a super villain. (It's getting to the point of ridiculous) However, it was handled about as well as can be done. Would have preferred something fresh.

Spider man is back and now he has to fight his long time school friend. In this book I made a Text-to-Self when spiderman fought his long time friend and a good friend in 1st grade bullied me and hurt me. I recommend this book to anyone who is a spiderman fan.
