I have mixed thoughts about Lisa Jackson's serial killer novel, The Morning After. Not far into the book, I had the distinct impression that the characters had a past together. This was confirmed when I looked up Jackson's Web site; this book was preceded by The Morning Before. In fact, Jackson has quite a few books under her belt-including myriad romances, which made it even more disappointing. If this had been a new writer, I could have forgiven the flat characters, unbelievable dialogue, and ...more

I read 'The Morning After' a long time ago in Dutch. I was looking through my (physical) bookshelves when I noticed this at the back. I vividly remember it being a very thrilling and suspenseful read. If Lisa Jackson's other books are as good as I remembered this one to be I might try some more Lisa Jackson crime thrillers in the future . . .

I loved this book. Talk about suspense. I would recommend it to all thrill seekers. Where does she come up with these ideas?

The Morning After by Lisa Jackson is a nail biting thriller that will keep you whipping through the pages right up to the end. Who is this killer that is taunting the police, especially Pierce Reed, the tough cop who is getting personalized messages from the killer? But the killer doesn't stop there - they begin to send the same kind of personalized messages to Nikki Gillette, a journalist who is looking to report more than the local school board meetings and other such mundane news.

I actually really enjoyed this book despite the very BIG errors I found in it. It's about one of the scariest things in the world--being buried alive--and except for the errors would have been a real winner. A big piece of the action hinges on the heroine having her cell phone and the battery going dead. Unfortunately, her cell phone was bagged up as evidence back on page 369 and was not given back to her. The detective shows up first at the judge's house, even though (pages before) police units ...more

Pas bc The Night Before dl, rasanya pnsaran bgt sm kisahnya Detektip Reed. Tp bgtu bc, kok mengecewakn ya.

Alurnya amat sangat lambat, hampir2 mmbosankn. Saking gak sabarnya, akhirnya kuloncat-loncat k blkg utk liat siapa serial killer-nya. Hbis itu kututup buku ini. Udh gak pengin reread agar tau knp bs si 'dia' yg jd pmbnuh n ap aja alasannya.

Reed-nya jd gak charming blas! Kok bs trkenang-kenang scra sensual sm Barbara Jean, pdhal wkt mrk msh brhub, dia mrsa dibohongi bbrp kali sm wanita it.

This was an excellent book if you like suspense. I loved this book from the first chapter. If you can, read the Savannah series in order. I read #3 first and then #2 . . . kind of a spoiler because I knew the outcome.

Lisa Jackson ...more

'The Morning After' was so much better than 'The Night Before'! The plot was creepy; the descriptions of what happened to the victims made my skin scrawl. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the suspense, and the unexpected twist near the end.
I actually quite enjoyed this one. Sometimes, there's nothing like a suspenseful murder mystery to draw you in. And as much as the past few Lisa Jackson books have been a little too dramatic and over-the-top, The Morning After was pleasantly, surprisingly intriguing as well. It's not the best in its genre, but considering the recent Romantic Suspense novels I've been reading lately, I was a bit delighted to find that I got drawn in for all the right reasons.

The book begins when "The Grave Robber" buries Bobbi Jean alive. A note is left for Reed and he is pulled into the investigation. Reed also falls under suspicion as Bobbi Jean was carrying his baby at the time of her death.

But more notes arrive for Reed and more people die. Eventually Nikki starts receiving notes of her own and Reed taken off the case due to his personal involvement acts as her body guard. Only after Nikki's friend Simone is killed do they connect the murders with the Chevalier

what should i say about this book ? the idea was brilliant ! the murder was absolutely thrilled me out !!!! but then.... #sighhhhhh...

The Morning After was a great read! Lisa Jackson captivated me with the adventurous, chilling, story of Nikki and Reed. I was a little wary of the fast-paced turn-around on Reed's feelings towards Nikki, but other than that, found no fault with the plot.
Reed was hard-core, Nikki was relentless. The murderer was scary and devious.
A must read for thriller lovers.

FANTASTIC! I love reading trilogies, I loved this book as it focuses mainly on the old characters. This is the reason why I was so late in answering my mail ( yes you can blame Lisa Jackson this time).
Imagine another serial killer on the loose and they are contacting you. What is the connection and how baffled are the Savannah police department going to figure it out, all the time I thought it was ???????? and then find out it was actually ????????? I am not going to spoil the moment. Who is it

Lisa's topic of people being buried alive in caskets with an already dead body inside with them was spooky to say the least. It kept one guessing throughout as to whom 'The Survivor' might be behind the crimes, almost to the very end.

Lisa needs someone more dependable to edit her books; numerous errors in the telling of the story. About the umpteenth time Reed is described as having aversion to the media and news people, I wanted to somehow declare, "I get it!" Additionally, one statement in th

If you have trouble with situations dealing with being buried alive this is a warning to you! I must say that I had a hard time reading this book since it deals with victims being buried alive. I have a horrible phobia about this since I saw a movie called "Buried Alive," (1990 with Tim Matheson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and William Atherton). I had to really focus on the fact that I was not in a casket while reading this! There were so many clues that didn't add up to at first until I finally ...more

In Jackson’s mystery thriller, journalist Nikki Gillette is hot on the trail of a big story—a serial killer is on the loose. She’s already given him a nickname—The Grave Robber—for his preference for burying people alive. It’s Pierce Reed’s case but Nikki dogs the cop’s steps at every pace determined to write the story that will be her ticket out of Savannah once and for all. As bodies begin piling up, Nikki’s nerves begin to unravel as she realizes there’s something familiar that she can’t ...more

This is book #2 in the Savannah series and is detective Pierce Reed's story. He was first introduced in "The Night Before" and is a very likeable character. I'm looking forward to finding out what makes him tick! Also from "The Night Before", is character Nikki Gillette. She is a newspaper reporter with dreams of making it in the big city someday. Unfortunately, she sees this opportunity as being through Detective Reed. He, however, is not the least bit amused. When a serial killer comes to ...more

I thought this was well-written and unique. I've found many suspense writers find a template they like, and work from it. If you've ever read John Lutz, you know what I'm talking about--all of his books read the same after a while.

After reading several by Lisa Jackson, I was starting to fear that she might fall into that same category. This book proved me wrong. She mentions several of her other characters in this book as passer-bys, and when I came across their names I almost did a double-take,

This is the second book in Lisa Jackson's 'Savannah Series' and there are three characters, detectives Reed and Morrisette and "plucky" crime reporter Nikki Gillete who are in both books in the series. The crimes are serial and horrific, involving people being buried alive and being perpetrated by a sexual sadist who calls himself The Survivor. I found the book a quick read, something to keep the fingers scrolling while on the treadmill. And even though I was interested enough to see the crime ...more

Savannah is experiencing the horror of a serial killer who is burying victims alive in coffins that are already occupied. The killer is sending clues to an agressive want to be crime reporter and a hard nosed cop, who has ties to one of the victims. Though they don't want to cooperate will they figure it out before more killings occur, and one of the victims could be them.

Quick read, held my attention. I enjoyed the Savannah location. I like to read stories that are set in a place I have visited
