This book is just one of the books featuring main character Myron Bolitar. Being released soon: Long Lost, the most recent addition to Coben's list of Myron books. The others are: Promise Me, Drop Shot, Gone for Good, One False Move...

Myron Bolitar's professional basketball careeer ended before it ever really began with a severe knee injury sustained during a pre-season game. He is therefore astonished when the owner of the New Jersey Dragons, a team headed for the playoffs, offers him a job as a player. But it turns out that this is to be a cover for the real job--finding the whereabouts of one of the team's star players, Greg Downing, who has disappeared on the eve of the playoffs. Myron and Greg have a history as rivals

Now that I've discovered Myron Bolitar mysteries (per the author's comment that the best detective

If you like basketball and if you like mysteries with clever plots, this one's for you. Myron Bolitar has a dream come true--at 35, after a career ending knee injury 10 years before, he is signed to an NBA team. Of course he's there to try to find out what happened to one of the team members who has taken a powder. Coben constructs an intricate plot which is gradually unfurled, and at the end he ties up all the loose ends. Myron learns a lot about himself and his life choices, as well as fin

I liked it. There were parts that kind of dragged for me, which is unusual for a Harlan Coben book, but overall it was entertaining and I NEVER saw the ending coming.

I have a good time with the Myron Bolitar novels. This particular offering was earlier in the series (the listing here shows it to be # 3) and obiously, to me, at least, Coben was honing his skills. He turns out a good mystery while offering the reader a little more in-depth view of the psychology of the hero, Myron.

Fade Away by Harlan Coben
I love Harlan Coben, the first book of his I read in less than twenty-four hours and I love the characters of Myron Bolitar, Win and Esperanza, but there's just something that doesn't connect for me. Maybe it's because I read the Bolitar books out of order, or maybe it's because it's too Americanised. I don't know anything about basketball and I don't really care about it, so I don't share the same obvious love that the author has for it. The storylines are oft More...

Third Myron Bolitar, and every one has been good. In this book, we get to see a bit of Myron's past. He gets to play a little basketball again. However, like all the books in this series (at least so far), you don't really have to have an interest in the sport to enjoy the book. As far as I can tell, Myron spends very little time at his "real" job (a sports agent) and a whole lot of time solving crimes and just getting himself into sticky situations. If you enjoyed the first two,

I appreciate Coben's Myron Bolitar series because they're always a little deeper and more heartfelt than they originally let on. Kind of like Myron himself. And they have Win, the rich preppie black belt psycho best friend, who I think is my favorite sidekick ever. I was just humming through this story, enjoying the mystery aspect of it, and then was hit by a twist that made the story personal to Myron. Which then made it more interesting to me.

In the third installment of the Myron Bolitar series, Myron is invited back to the professional basketball court. At the same time he has to find a missing player; a missing player who happens to be his old nemesis from college.
Harlan Coben never fails to disappoint me. I adore his humor. All the smart quips and sarcasm making the reading experience especially fun.

What a pleasant surprise this turned out to be! After reading the unimpressive golf installment of this series I was determined just to get through two others I already have in my line up (no sporting pun intended) but I really enjoyed this one. The funnier side of mystery is there, like Back Spin, but unlike Back Spin- Coben got it this time. Instead of jokes that weren't funny and rhetoric that missed the mark, in Fade Away there were several laugh out loud moments. The mystery was a good one.

I find Harlan Coben's books to be quite readable. His main character, Myron Bolitar is a very sympathetic character. This is a very involved plot, with many people seeming to be capable of murder. Most of the supporting characters aren't especially nice people so one can't really care what happens to them. The idea of an ex- pro basketball player getting a chance to return to the game. however short a time, is interesting.

After reading the first Myron Bolitar mystery, DEAL BREAKER, I asked myself why on earth I waited so long to read this series. I'm still wondering that, because these are FANTASTIC. I love the wisecracking, and following the various twists and turns of our hero's mind.

I can't get enough of this series - how did I miss these for so many years?! Myron Bolitor is a smart, witty character that is easily likable and when paired with his cohort in crime, Win - the dialouge is priceless! I enjoyed this novel as we finally get some more info on the backstory of Myron's short lived basketball career - and he gets a shot at redemption...albeit for all the wrong reasons. A quick read - what's on tap next Myron?!

I didn't blog about it, but I know I've liked Coben's Tell No One, which was on the Illinois Abe Lincoln Book Award list a few years ago. I picked up this audiobook at the Casey Public Library and wasn't disappointed. In fact, I was reminded of Dick Francis and his great horse jockey character Sid Halley. Coben's created Myron Bolitar, a basketball has been who is now a sports agent. He's called back to star on a pro basketball team to find out what's happened to a missing teammate. Even though

Myron Bolitar is a sports agent and former basketball player, until he blew out his knee. His college nemesis has gone missing, and Myron is asked to come up to the pros so he can make a "comeback" and find his nemesis.
This series has such fun, amazing characters. Win, Myron's best friend, plays like Nick Charles from the Thin Man movies from the 1940s. This is a great series, especially for sports fans.

I am loving this book! People keep commenting on how funny and quirky Harlan Coben is. I thought he was okay, but this book has had parts in it that have made me totally crack up. Yet, it is just as suspenseful as his other books. I love it!
This had a great ending and kept my interest! I couldn't put it down !

Tons od Fun. Snappy dialogue and a hair-brained plot elaborately stitched together.
"Win was elegant, good-looking and wimpy. Two out of three isn't bad."
The protagonist, Myron bolivar, is a former pro basketball player and is now a sports agent and private investigator, who looks into the disappearance of his arch rivel, Greg Dawson.

le héros récurrent de Coben. L'agent sportif est au top de sa forme et son pote Win toujours aussi désaxé. rien à redire bon polar.
the Coben recurrent hero. this sports agent is number one in his league, moreover his buddy Win is still a wacko. Nothing to add a regular good polar

I have read a lot of books by this author, but this is the first of his Myron Bolitar mysteries that I have read. Myron Bolitar is a former college basketball star turned Federal Agent turned sports agent who finds himself in a mystery surrounding the disappearance of his former college rival, now a pro-basketball player. The team owner doesn't want anyone to know the player is missing, so he concocts a story about an injury and hires Myron to play on the team to find out what might have happe

This is a good book to read on a rainy afternoon in front of a crackling fire. And you can easily read it in an afternoon so we're not talking a huge time commitment here. Myron Bolitar is described by the publisher as "one of the most fascinating and complex heroes in suspense fiction". While I wouldn't go that far, he is interesting. A sports agent who was picked in the first round of the NBA draft (he was All-American at Duke) and whose career ended in the preseason of his rooki

Coben's third Myron Bolitar was enjoyable though a little disjointed for me. I found the basketball side adventure a bit annoying as it got in the way of furthering the central story. But all is forgiven, as there were some twists near the tail that were quite satisfying and repaid the effort in sticking out the story. To be honest, I didn't enjoy it as much as the first two but still worth my time.

As usual, fantastic stuff. I just LOVE Harlan Coben. Al and Ellen are so real - I wish they could adopt me ... and why can't I have a friend like Win??? Gripping page turner which kept me guessing right up to the very end. Can't wait to begin the next one!

I liked this book quite a bit. It was not as good as Deal Breaker, the first in the series, but I thought it was much better than Drop Shot, which was the second in the series. I am reading the entire series in order and I'm looking forwad to the next one.
