The ironic thing about this book is that I bought it as a "gift" for a friend of mine who couldn't ween herself off a very abusive man. It was going on for years and I got tired of hearing about it--and about him! So, when I came across this one I immediately thought of her, and planned to give it to her the next time I saw her. However, we never met up, and I had read this book by then. I wound up highlighting some good points throughout the book, and had to buy her a new one. However...more
I decided to purchase this book after becoming more and more aware of the recurring bad relationship patterns I found myself in that often consisted of being involved with people who were not good for me and who didn't treat me very well. This book really helped me see the psychological reasons behind why I was making these bad choices. It was an eye opening book that helped me see that there's a light at the end of the tunnel. You can break the cycle if you want to.

Recommends it for:
*anyone* who thinks it might apply to them
I just read this book for the third time. I've read several other books on the topic and this one has by far been the most helpful for me. There are so many parts of it that I copied down in my journal and underlined and wrote "yes yes exactly!!" next to. So I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is dealing with being obsessed with someone. Really.
This helped me to understand how my childhood connection to my mother could be effecting current relationships.

anyone who's had a hard time letting go of someone who was bad for them.
This book has saved my life... and will continue to do so if I follow through.
Pretty easy to digest, with some helpful strategies. Not bad, not great.
Was only ok.
