The Artemis Fowl books really are perfect for a quick, easy read. Which is good, because I'll be doing the twenty-four hour readathon tomorrow, and I really don't want to get burnt out on reading!

The Arctic Incident develops Artemis as a more sympathetic figure, having left behind his attempts to exploit the People (the fairies), and feeling some remorse over how he handled things in the first book. He's also focused on rescuing his father, missing for two years, convinced he's still More...

For me, as an adult, the Artemis Fowl series is a guilty pleasure.

I get a kick out of Artemis, smart beyond reason youth he is, and like the relationship between him and his bodyguard, Butler.

Throw in the fantastical underworld of fairies, dwarfs, and other magical creatures and there are a lot of options for a fast-paced, fun story.

In the second installment, Artemis finds himself in boarding school now that his mother has recovered and begun to assert rules on the More...

These are simply fun books. I remember picking up Harry Potter back in college and flying through the series, eagerly waiting for the next one to come out. They were addicting brain candy and I've always enjoyed looking for character driven series in the same vein since then. First came Riordan's books (read!) and then I stumbled upon Eoin Colfer.

The Artic Incident is the second book in the series. It's not a series in the conventional sense when compared to HP and Rick Riordan i More...

Artemis Fowls the Arctic Incident

When I was a child I watched a movie called Richie Rich. He was the richest boy in the world but his parents were always busy working so even though he was rich he didn’t have everything. He always wanted to be a normal boy but his parents were always trying to get him to inherit the family business. Richie Rich is like in Artemis Fowl the Arctic Incident by Eoin Colfer because Artemis has to take over the family business at a young age. Also the l More...

The very worst thing about this book is the school Artemis is sent to. It ust bugs me, for some reason. At any school I’ve ever attended, if you see the school counselor, you can’t simply call them idiots, walk out, and then fake a call from mom to get you off the hook. Any school school counselor I’ve ever known would be calling every few days making sure everything was More...

There's nothing that attracts me more, than a genius without the glasses. Especially if the geek looks like this

(For those who don't know this hottie, he's Chuck/Zachary Levi) However, if the geek involved is 13 years old and is a criminal mastermind, plus fantasizing that he would grow up faster than a normal human being would, well thats just plain pedophilia. :))

Well it's not actually that bad, if you'll become an instant billionaire and with him you could rule the wo More...

This is a very interesting Sci-Fi book. I would recommend this to anybody who is young and likes fantasy or science fiction. It is about a kid named Artemis Fowl Jr. (II) and his search to find his father. SPOILER ALERT! To summarize up the book, it starts off with him at a counseling session with somebody assessing his behavior. He has retired several counselors, indicating that he has alot of issues. He then finds out that the Lower Elements Police are on the move in a smuggling investigation More...

So far, I've really enjoyed Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl series. I've known it was around for a while, but slogged my way through some less interesting YA sludge before I finally decided to read these books on a co-worker's recommendation. I'll be the first to admit, it's not hugely intelligent like Harry Potter or hugely hormonal like the Twilight series, nor is it entirely original - taking its cues from the super villain and spy genres. But it's fun, fast-paced and refreshing.

Artemis Fowl a twelve years old genius, the first mud-man to ever discover the secret of the ‘People’. Much less stole fairy gold from them and come out alive. The Second book tells us about the Arctic Incident in which his father lost his life, at least till now. With a business deal from the Russians who holds the life of Artemis Fowl Senior in their gasp, now they venture out into the Arctic to recuse his long lost father. At the same time, there is trouble within the L.E.P.; they’re being at More...

I think this was one where I ended up liking it a little more than I liked the first in the series. I have to admit that the first half of the book could have been stronger but right at the time when I was thinking there really are not enough fart jokes to relate to my inner eight year old for an Eoin Colfer book, Mulch Diggums showed up and cleared that right up. There were a few times where I was laughing out loud and the action was pretty good for a young kids book. It made me want to read More...

"The Artic Incident" is the second book in the Eoin Colfer series, again following 13-year-old criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl. I think I liked it even more than the first book.

In this book, Artemis has his part of the fairy gold, and his mother is also herself again, due to the wish Holly granted in the end of the last book. His mother has sent Artemis to an academy, and Artemis skips out when he hears word that his father (who was lost in a shipping accident) is alive, a More...

It's been a long while since I read the first book of this series. I remembered thinking my kid would like it. Then I picked up the second at a book sale and stuck it on the shelf. I was in the mood for something light and read it. Then I remembered why I didn't love the first book. And realized I have absolutely no desire to read the third one.

Although the plot is fine, it's a bit unrealistic (ok I know it's fiction) and I don't love ANY of the characters. I can relate to non More...

The plot is about Artemis trying to find his missing father in the arctic with the help of the LEPrecon which are police of the Lower Elements. This becomes an issue because he is wanted for kidnapping a recon officer, Holly, and being the first one to successfully steal fairy gold. Will Artemis be able to save his father?

I can connect this to the world. Many in the world dislike people and act differently towards them. For example, someone can be polite and kind to everyone but More...

For those who read the first Artemis Fowl and, like myself, were entertained but overall unimpressed, this sequel is definitely worth checking out. The original I admit was a good introduction into the world of the series, but as a stand alone, it frankly stunk worse than Mulch Diggums's gas. This book is a much better representative of the series as a whole.

Compared to the first Artemis Fowl, this book hits the mark in where the other lacked. In the first you dealt with basically More...

After Krystl gave this book a whopping 5 stars, I have to admit that I expected more from it than it ultimately delivered. It didn't particularly impress me any more than the first book had. I do like Artemis as a character--my problem is that so little of these books is actually ABOUT him. Colfer jams so many characters into such small space, and seems to want to give them all equal "air time" even though they aren't equally important or interesting. I'll continue to read the series a More...

Way to go, Eoin Colfer (pronounced Owen as I found out the end of the first disc)! This book was way better than the first one in terms of storyline, action and flow. It's a year later and Capt Holly Short is still upset at Artemis for kidnapping her the year before. However, she has bigger problems on her hands and she thinks Artemis is once again responsible, although he is embroiled in problems of his own. Artemis has located his father, who is being held by the Russian mafia, and therefore h More...

Lots of action from the start and was suspenseful too. Artemis teams up with Holly, his former nemesis to save his father and from them on forms an alliance. The magic/fairy technology employed was really astounding. The story and plot picked up where the first book left off. There's a lot of character conflict between Artemis and Holly, but Artemis certainly developed and showed his softer side, especially when it came to family. He's still human after all, but a criminal mastermind nonetheless More...

I think that this book is very great because like the other books in this series it showed a new world with a journey to save this fantasy world with fairies and goblins. As the i kept reading i liked how the author puts the characters in funny situations and jokes that make me laugh like crazy. I like at how they put a stop to that crazy fairy in the end who wanted to take control of the entire fantasy magical creature land. I like how the author puts modern world into some crazy fantasy world More...

When I started to read this book, I thought that it would be about the fairies trying to get back Artemis Fowl but it was very different from my predictions. My least favorite character is Cudgeon because he is a liar that has been holding a grudge for a long time. I was surprised how some characters worked better that other characters. I did not like the way the author would go back and forth and not focus on others during the important parts. The author would make it hard to follow when you we More...

As a person around the age of Artemis you would expect to be able to relate to what he is going through. But, at the age of 12 he has a brain that surpasses most adults which is what makes him such an interesting character. The adventures he gets to go on at a young age would make most people jealous but personally it was more of an interesting point of view for me. The book shows great promise as Artemis outsmarts countless foes to achieve his goal.

"I love Artemis Fowl, I love Artemis Fowl," repeats Asher in a sing-song voice. So my favorite antihero has returned! Or rather I've returned for more of him! My first dive into the Artemis Fowl series left me stupefied and amazed. While things were a bit more mellow in this second book, it still packed a pretty hefty punch. I admit, it did take me a bit to submerse myself this time around, but once I'd read a few pages in, the book hooked its claws into me. And I have to say that I ce More...
