Was not a fan. Couldn't even get seven chapters in before I was bored and incredulous. I like historical fiction, but when they try to mix ridiculous magic in with history, it turns me off.

Beautiful language, engaging characters, a sweet love story or two in the background, great scope and tremendous magics...Judith Tarr always delivers same, and this book is no exception...

My year for Richard Coeur de Leon. This is an alternate history with various magic systems at work. It actually gives Berengaria a reason to exist.
