If I could give this 10 stars I would. Absolutely spectacular! Any book that can make me cry is a keeper but any book that makes me cry TWICE in two different places is definitely going on my desert island keeper shelf.

I absolutely love, love, love this series. Ms. Cooke always delivers a spellbinding ride with each of the Dragonfire novels and KISS OF FATE is no exception. Here we finally get the Pyr leader’s Erik’s story and its one wild roller coaster of a ride. This is an author who knows her series and her characters intimately. The characters alone are delightful, multi-dimensional and had me sighing over in delight. Ms. Cooke delivers a strong story in this series and KISS OF FATE keeps the series alive...more I absolutely love, love, love this series. Here we finally get the Pyr leader’s Erik’s story and its one wild roller coaster of a ride. This is an author who knows her series and her characters intimately. The characters alone are delightful, multi-dimensional and had me sighing over in delight. Ms. Cooke delivers a strong story in this series and KISS OF FATE keeps the series alive and well. The story flows smoothly with a few twists I didn’t see coming, a main set of characters you can root for and an enduring love worth fighting for.

Eileen is having disturbing dreams and waking up with wet hair among other items caught in it. Dreams…that is all they were until dreams turn to reality when sexy, mysterious Erik walks into her life. From then on these two connect soul deep and the reader finds out Erik’ s past as he helps Eileen remember her identity. The question that is center throughout the story is can a dragon believes he gets a second chance at love? The author does a great job of incorporating that into the storyline and the characters Erik and Eileen are perfect together. Their love for one another once they got past their fears was beautiful and you got a sense they were in it for the long haul. The secondary characters were also excellent and kept the story moving nicely.

KISS OF FATE is a fast paced, roller coaster of a story that leaves you breathless in the end. It’s a perfect series to enjoy on any given day and will leave you longing for more dragons to devour. With each book I read of this series, it just gets better and better. Lots of character development and fast paced storylines with each book have me hooked. I am just eager to see who will be next in the pyr to find their mate and firestorm. Deborah Cooke is a talented author and one I enjoy immensely. Get ready for a dragon that will steal your heart and leave you longing to meet a pyr of your own.

Usually I don't like to poke holes in books that I read, because I figure that since I'm reading fantasy anyway, I would allow for some level of imagination and impossibilities, and not care much about science or physics at all. So I normally don't argue over something being scientifically possible or not. Unfortunately, after I read 3 installments of this Dragonfire series, I came to the conclusion that the author seemed to be consistently inconsistent and it drives me bonkers.

Please allow me to vent for a bit about this book...

I know we are talking about dragons, which are mythical creatures, and we know that they are big and breath fire etc. On many occasions, the author would go at length to describe how powerful and vicious and big the dragons are once they shift shape from humans. However, how do you imagine that dragons, multiple dragons actually, fighting/moving in a normal building, or a residential home, or a bookstore, or the garage of a cottage??? Well, it'd seem to me that the author was so involved in her writing that she forgot that it'd be physically impossible to fit all the dragons in a small space. Well, not unless she was really describing 20ft high ceiling and HUGE places in all instances. While I was reading books #1, #2 and #3, I always imagined that they'd be squished and packed so tightly that they wouldn't be moving much at all??!!? And breathing fire too? Dragons, people, furnitures and all things in vicinity would get roasted!!! Seriously, other than the Pyr leader's home (Erik), which was described as something converted from a spacious warehouse, I just cannot understand the physical dimensions of this fictional world and it makes absolutely no sense to me at all.

In this particular book, Erik flew his mate (Eileen) all the way from London, England back to his home in Chicago, U.S. in his dragon form. Based on the descriptions, Eileen was tucked snugly on his front and the trip took about 35 hours. Does this make any sense to anyone? Why in the world would someone choose to do that over travelling by an airplane? Although I have never travelled to/from Chicago & London, (based on my Google results) the flight would be about 8 to 12 hours, depending on the airline. So, even provisioning for flight unavailibility and having to wait another day (24 hours), isn't it a lot easier and less straining than flying??!! Sheesh!!! Oh, and let's not think about the flight speed of the macho dragon here. The distance between London and Chicago is about 7000 km, and to finish a trip in 35 hours, you're talking about travelling at the speed of 200 km/h (or equivalent to 125 miles/h). Wow, the freakin' dragon is indeed super inhumanly fast, and being sustainable for 35 continuous long hours... holy moses!!! Not to mention that Eileen's head would be blown off from the high speed air impact and being exposed in the air for that long!!!!!!

I was hopeful that this Dragonfire series would improve, as was the case with some other authors and series I encountered, but I was disappointed with this book #3. The plot was fairly predictable and the characters were mostly uninteresting. The sexual tension between the male and female protagonists was mainly due to the so-called "firestorm" so they'd literally start feeling desire as soon as they are close and want to do each other "immediately"... so the element of anticipation, flirtation, the whole sexual guessing game was lacking. It almost leaves me feeling dissatisfied. The only saving grace was the sex scenes between Erik and Eileen, which I agreed were hot and yummmy. Also, the background story about Erik/Louisa/Sigmund etc was tragic and moved me in certain places. Oh, and I do have to commend on the "bad" dragons in the series - they were so evil that sometimes I liked having them around just to see some actions. Otherwise, I thought some parts of the book were boring that I would skim over pages at a time.

Talking about "firestorm", whereby the dragon is destined to meet his "mate" and to have sex and conceive a son, it was an interesting idea at first, but by book #3, it got really boring. Every one of the 3 books I read so far had a prologue, which gave away half the story already. And the premise of consummating the firestorm in every book? Sorry, not enough to keep my interests. I don't doubt for a moment that in subsequent books, the whole "firestorm" and breeding idea would pop up again. After all, readers are not stupid and they see patterns you know!!

I think I already mentioned this in my review of book #1 (or was it #2?), that the style, premise, even the characters of this book reminds me much of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R.Ward. I could see parallels, where the good guys fight the bad guys, and each good warrior finds a mate etc, with a major difference that BDB is about vampires and this series is about dragons and breeding. That's where the similarities end though. I sometimes wonder if I've been "spoiled" because I started off with BDB first and I loved that series, so the bar has been set high. So now whenever I read PR books I can't help but compare.

I debated over 1- or 2-star rating on this book, and finally landed on 2. After all, I did like Erik's background story and that he was able to reconcile with Eileen/Louisa in her reincarnated life. Some of the "slayer" action was good too. I asked myself if it was terrible, and it wasn't as bad as some other ones I've come across. So to be fair, I am giving it a 2.(less)

Eric is the leader of the Pyr, a group of dragons that are meant to protect the earth and all things that form it. In their quest to save earth and the human race against the Slayers (dragons that degenerated into foul creatures and are trying to wipe the humans and Pyr from the face of the earth), they have to fulfill some prophecies that include the consummating of three firestorms and the personal growth of each Pyr, beforethe final battle takes place.

These stories are packed with action, fights, flights and persecutions; they also have a strong love theme and some Good vs. Evil lessons that captivate the reader’s attention. They also keep reminding us of humanity’s responsibility in saving ourselves and the earth we live in. It definitely is a fun read about dragon lore and human behavior. It really keeps us in a true roller-coaster of events.

Even though we have a few surprises in this third volume, some of it became a little predictable. The new elements introduced in this book are interesting enough to keep us wondering what will be the next adventure and how the final battle will evolve. But (and on a more personal note) I think that the dragon fighting scenes needed a little more of the author’s attention. They are very passionate but kept focusing on details like claws and turns and forgetting the space confinements and some impossible maneuvers. The author also keeps adding characters in these scenes that confused the hell out of me. There’s no way a normal reader is able to keep track of all the characters colors…

But I do maintain that this is a fun read and a good paranormal romance as it puts us through passion, reincarnation, sacrifice and redemption.

Kiss of Fate is the third in the series. After reading the majority of the series so far, I was feeling antsy wanting to read Erick's story. Erick is just "Sigh"....so seductively sexy, and is one of my all time heroes. He is very protective, enough alpha in him to satisfy any woman, but not too much to drive a woman nuts. I found him to be 'delectable' at times. Eileen was such a fun character to read. Even though a bit predictable, I enjoyed the little surprises here and there, and I just truly enjoyed seeing what inner strength and character she had. Even though there were times that their story was a bit on the predictable side, but I loved the flair and the suspense that kept the story rolling and keeps the reader engaged. There was also a few side stories that I found just thrilling to read. I really liked the chemistry between Erick and Eileen, but I also enjoyed the love story that is so enthralling...it did bring a few tears to my eyes. But at other times I was just laughing with the witty rapatoire that this author displays throughout the story. I found Kiss of Fate to be a lovely addition to the story, and top of the list of favorites for me. A truly compelling read that will capture the heart of every reader who enjoys a captivating romance, thrilling plot, and sexy characters.

It made Eileen feel powerful that she could incite desire in this man who such capabilities, who had lived so long and undoubtedly seen so many women. She was glad that he saw no need to change her, just accepted her as she was. Wanted her as she was. She liked that he was tough but vulnerable, and that he trusted her enough to let her glimpse his old wounds. She appreciated that he still gave her the choice, that he didn't just take what he wanted.

This is the third book in the Dragonfire series and this time the firestorm is between Eric, the leader of the dragon Pyr, and Eileen.

The chemistry is there between the two but could have been better. I have to agree with another viewer that I wish the dragons were more possessive instead of just standing on the sidelines contemplating if the woman will be his mate. It's a given they will be so why not make their desire for the women more driven.

These books are highly addictive. If real life hadn't gotten in the way, I would end up reading these books in one sitting. With how much I love these Pyr, I kinda wish I could read them in one sitting.

I love that there's so much lore, both real and fictional, in these books. I love that there's enough nail biting action to hold your attention. I love that there's a sweet, albeit a bit predictable, love in these books. Most of all I love that the heroines in these books are kick-ass strong!

Enjoyed this book. It was recommended by a fellow friend on facebook. She described this style writing as urban fantasy. So I thought to give it a try. Nothing new, nothing new.

I really have no inspiration to write a review for this because I think that the first two books are pretty much the same regarding my opinions for them. The fourth one was a bit lousier than the others, so I didn't get far into it, and the beginning of the fifth one is very boring and the characters have a tendency to repeat their thoughts over and over again. Feels like one big deja vu.

These books are not getting better, and I am giving up on them.

This series keeps getting better and better, I'm so glad to know the story behind Erik and his first firestorm with his wife Louisa and their son Sigmund and to know why Sigmund turned Slayer. Though the whole time I'm yelling at Erik (in my head mind you) because he is doing the typical thing guys do in romance novels, the whole I'm going to sacrifice myself routine, driving me crazy. Eric is the leader of the Pyr, and he's a cranky and tortured dude who lost his mate, and was betrayed by his only son. He's not an easy guy to like for so many reasons, but his story is compelling, complex and tragic. Eileen is a smart, tough woman. She needs to be just to stand up to Eric who is an uber alpha male, and quite moody to top if off. I wasn't sure how much I would like Eric's story, but it ended up my favorite of the Pyr stories.

This is the third of the "trilogy" within the Dragonfire series. What was set up as three firestorms is now nearing the culmination. With Erik's firestorm starting up, no one is more surprised than he is.

Erik had a firestorm. Since Pyr dragons have only one destined mate, he thought he was immune. But if he has a firestorm, there is only one explanation. His mate is reincarnated. This series just gets better and better. Badass Magnus is back and so is Boris - both on the wrong team - the Slayers. Mythologist Eileen Grosvenor enters the story with a satchel of dragon's teeth and both Magnus and Boris on her tail. Pyr leader Erik Sorensson is in search of his firestorm (mate) when he stumbles upon Eileen and rescues her and sets in motion a prophesy of death and danger.

Good read although I was unhappy at some of the characters that made the 'noble sacrifice'. [That's my personal hangup - I want all the ones I like to survive!:] Erik and Eileen's firestorm [and tragic history:] are happily resolved and there is hope [and change:] on the horizon.

It was fabulous, & I just love the deeper lessons of Good vs. Evil and humanitiy's responsibility to save the earth that are present in this series. Kiss of Fire is still my favorite, though there are 2 more & 1 in the works left to go...

This is the 3rd book in this series and I enjoyed it more than the other 2 so far. Gave alot of background in the history of the dragon shapeshifters and I felt like the love story was better than the previous books.

These books are fun. This one is about Erik and his firestorm. A bunch gets resolved in the over arching storyline, though one character has gone on a quest and I assume that is going to be the next novel. They don't disappoint and are enjoyable paranormal romance.

Holy moly, I LOVED this book. I'm so into the Dragonfire world that it's unreal. Cant wait to read the next book. Erik almost has me changing teams. I've been a Rafferty girl since the beginning but his book nearly won me over.

Have to love it when a series just gets better with each successive book. I picked up the first in the series last year, right after it was released on a whim. Needed something to read and had nothing with me at the time. I'd never read any dragonshifting books prior but figured what the hell?
