Caroline left her alcoholic husband, Peter, in an act of desperation - to save herself and their little daughter from harm. Their three-year security was shattered when Nick Holt, Peter's cousin, turned up on her doorstep - to tell her that Peter was dead and to bring them home to Peter's mother. Five stars for an intense, page turning, well written story that kept me spell bound. Minus 1 star for a doormat heroine who after escaping an abusive marriage falls into the same situation with her dead husband's cousin. It would seem to me, that she would have done anything to take herself out of the path of abuse or at least punched his lights out.

But very well done............

Picked up the book for free and gave it a go. I found it to drag in a lot of places, and I felt like the pace of the book was pretty slow.

I was a little disappointed sadly, but it wasn't terrible. It was a quick, easy read.

The hero believed the things the heroins alcoholic of a husband said to him. When the husband died, he hunted down the heroine and tortured her with his distance, for she had been in love with the hero for a long time. When the hero found out the truth, nothing would stop him from having her. Great read.

Another book about a woman who runs from her husband, only to be tracked down by her husband's cousin. She takes her little girl when she runs as most mothers would. I guess in the 70' it was easier to escape from a person, now it isn't so easy.

I was in the right mood for an unjustifiably angry hero and a silently martyred heroine, and this one certainly delivered! Nothing special about this one, just some good angst and a satisfying conclusion.
